OK so spoons next door has their real ales on Wednesday for £1.99 but it's always 3 deep at the bar and rammed so after having 1 i tried old number 7 which is £4,15 but only 6 people in the bar and no queue. All about whether you want to pay double with no wait or not. OK for one but need to consider competitive pricing. £2.05 pint at Shakespeare and £2.15 pint at corner pin so much dearer in old no 7 but you get served straight away and nice and quiet.

My band played a gig there. Staff were exceptional, especially young Char on the downstairs bar, although Martin and Shauna deserve a mention because they're mint. The shandy was nice, and the atmosphere downstairs was electric. It might have been because we were brilliant. Can't wait to play again or visit as a punter soon. We're called Misery Prize - look us up, we're mint.

Useful pre match drink when expectations are low. Had the blonde - pale ale and a golovkin (stout). Not a real ale expert but these were two good pints

Starting with the management, Stewart and Carol are the nicest couple I know. Been new to Barnsley they have made me feel like one of their own and nothing I ask is too much. In fact, all the staff go above and beyond their duty to make you feel welcome and have a great sense of humour... The drink selection is ace. If it be a Gin, a caramel vodka which I highly recommend or a regular changing selection of real ales that are kept to perfection you can't go wrong. Accompanied with a weekly quiz, live music nights and many other events held there it's a must visit. I can't recommend this place...

OMG what can I say, been out for the first time since lockdown, hadn't had the confidence before now. Staff were absolutely amazing. I know for sure other pubs are certainly not as conscientious. With this fabulous local pub, safety comes first over profit. You can book a table or walk in, but cannot be seated until the area has been thoroughly cleaned and are given full table service. We have always loved our local No.7 and know for sure why now. Brilliant service. Always with the customer in mind. As always love the real ale. So glad to be back. Thank you for your service 5.09.20 16:00....
