We were excited when we saw the opening of this cafe as the food on social media looked brilliant. Unfortunately we found the whole experience really underwhelming. Staff try to say as little to you as possible, whilst taking as much money as possible. You order through QR or at the counter, which seems a bit pointless in such a small cafe, it wouldn’t be much effort at all for someone to take your order. Food came completely different than described, missing several items / sauce that was stated. The steak sandwich might as well have been boiled and came with no sauce or any of the trimmings you’re promised. The chicken sandwich “smothered in hot honey” was dry with a drizzle of honey and, again, missing some components, feels like we could’ve made better at home and not paid £15 a sandwich. No one asked how our meal was the whole time we were eating, or after we had finished, and when you place the order online it automatically adds a TIP?! I’m not sure who we were supposed to be tipping. We paid £45 for our meal and drinks, eventually got up and left as no one was coming over to clear our plates or ask how things were. Don’t usually write reviews but this...

The ordinary staff seemed really pleased to see us, but what looked like the (quite handsome) owner didn’t smile at all when I gave him eye contact; which is odd as the advertising promised a warm smile every time. It was a little pretentious, but that never hurt anyone. The prices were reasonable for a restaurant quality main meal that we got - very nice in fact. They even swapped the meat for an alternative. I attended previously where they had bagels and afternoon tea etc, but this wasn’t on offer which would have been nice. The staff were really nice but didn’t know about the coffee when I asked. I believe the coffee was ‘washed’ leading to an extremely bitter taste (best with a latte to cut through the milk) but as I had it as an Americano, was a bit too much for me. Overall a very firm 3.5, it’s a popular place that’s provides an alternative to the bog standard coffee shop, or a boring cafe....

I was told to come here by a friend. I'm glad I did. Such a charming building with a lovely warm and friendly atmosphere. It's kind of like a tardis...looks tiny from outside but it goes back a long way and there is seating upstairs. The pictures I added are from the upstairs area.

The staff were very friendly and the service was swift. Very nicely decorated and ambient music playing. I can see this been a regular spot for me as I live in Barnsley.

The only negative for me personally was that the black americano was a little weak for my taste. If you like a strong coffee I definitely recommend ordering an extra shot of espresso.

But my mother who is known for speaking her mind and sending her drinks back...had a mocha and she said it was one of the best she's had. So well...

I came here as a solo trip for my lunch and I was very welcomed in the shop! The waiter was very friendly and was attentive when I ordered. I tried the crispy chicken bao buns and they were lovely! Although, it will get quite messy eating them so be prepared! The seasoned chips were nice and for dessert, I tried their French toast! The flavour/theme of them changes every week and when I went, it was banoffee! The bread was fluffy and airy, and the fresh banana slices and whipped cream paired nicely with the bread. On an occasion before this, I had the avocado on toast and the whole thing was great! Just the egg wasn’t runny when I cut through it. Alas, I will try it again next time!
