Basil Spice Indian Restaurant, Bar — Restaurant in Basildon

Basil spice is my favourite restaurant to eat from and although I usually order take away for convenience it is so much better to eat in their beautiful restaurant with their lovely friendly staff. A massive thank you to Adam, his wife and all their amazing staff and cooks for hosting a simply outstanding evening for 140 people the other night as a thank you to us. When in truth it is us who should be saying thank you for the many years of delicious food but also the things you guys do as you go above and beyond for us all at different times. During Covid you not only gave me helium for my daughters balloons but added many more free to make it even more special! You provided free food for the hospital staff and have done so when an accident stopped many people leaving the road outside your restaurant for a long period and you couldn’t leave them hungry. My favourite dishes are the masala chips which are so delicious I eat way too many, the tikka wrap which has a secret sauce and is bursting with flavour in a delicious Naan, and the chicken tikka masala with its creamy taste and succulent chicken. I have always ordered from here as their food is a cut above the rest and service which can’t be matched. Thank you again Adam and to your family and staff for always providing the best Indian meal always maintaining quality food. Also many thanks for the gratitude and thanks you give back to customers like myself by hosting a free thank you meal like you did Thursday! I have eaten in this Indian and it is amazing. We have just ordered takeaway. So we have spend just over £50 for 2 of us. Taken a hour and 15 mins to deliver. I do understand it’s a Saturday night and it’s busy. Trying to order our food was hard as there was so much break ground noise on their end. I got prawns puri for starter, was warm, the prawn was also over cooked and very rubbery. The taste was lovely and there was plenty of prawns so that was nice to see. My meal I wasn’t happy, my nan bread was really cold and not a lot of taste and my meal was cold. My curry came out of the pot still in the same shape as the pot where it was that cold. I can’t eat cold food, so I’ve had to microwave it. As I’m not waiting over a hour again for more food. I ordered onion salad and mint sauce which we paid for, didn’t receive no onion salad, he had chicken tikka starter which usually comes with yoghurt, no yoghurt (not sure if theirs does come with yoghurt) his food was also luke warm but he can eat it like that: he did really enjoy his food. There was plenty of meat in all our dishes which is nice to see and it did have alot of taste. Just gutted we had stuff missing and our food was cold. My curry was just a jelly blob and put me straight off it. Don’t think I will go for takeaway here anymore and other just go into the restaurant but I’m sure he will want to try it once more. Haven’t bothered calling the restaurant up to complain as ordering...

Have been to basil spice a few times and we always order take away from here. Food was delicious. However we had merkatt meals which I told them when I booked, they said not to worry as it is two for one on Thursday anyway. 2-1 on starter mains or dessert is the discount for merkatt meals. We received the bill and it was full price, so I explained that we was told it was two for one tonight, he said he would speak to his manager, he came back with 20% off of our bill as we didn't order a starter, he said for the offer you have to have a starter main and a dessert to qualify for the offer. This was not explained when ordering. They also then said that I should have told them that I had a discount before the bill was printed, I didn't think I would need to as I explained on the phone when booking and she said don't worry as they have an offer on already. I explained I was not happy with 20% off as I had my discount code and I ordered two starters so I could qualify for the discount. I have never had to order three courses before to qualify for merkat meals and I have been to various different places. We had a lovely night out before this and it was just a bit awkward and left feeling deflated because it was backwards and forwards with the bill.
