Came here recently. The first person who was a fellow Asian who spoke to us in an English accent but briefly asked us if we wanted poppadoms. Wasn’t really impressed. You’re charging for poppadoms! We didn’t even ask and you offered that so we accepted thinking it would be a complimentary item. Little did we know that this would be £6.50 added to the bill. Anyway, while we were ordering I ordered a Budweiser bottled even though it cost £2.50. And I did it twice as I had no choice!
That’s never a good starting point. Lol
The rest of the meals were messed up to say the least. And they used a staff member who couldn’t even speak basic English to serve us so if there was an issue they could blame it on that poor staff member. Typical!
There was sugar in what was supposed to be a spicy hot curry, there was no soy sauce when we ordered a chow mein. there was no flavour and too much oil!
There was some leftover food and as we didn’t want to waste it we asked for container. They also charged us for each container in the final bill.
The bill also is hand written. It should be itemised and in print. They are avoiding taxes.
Please avoid as when we tried to mention the complaint they played it down saying food was cheap that night.
Goodbye Mintoo! Stop fooling the good people of Basildon! They deserve so...
Read moreUSED to be a good Indian. Think it may have switched owners, Went tonight for first time in a few months. There were us (a couple) and one other couple in the restaurant. After 20 minutes of watching the waiter playing on his phone I had to ask if we could order our food. Our poppadoms were then not cleared until our main was bought out. Whilst waiting the staff put on a terrible 'house' mix of Eminem, shortly followed by a traditional Indian song, literally thought they were winding us up! After asking for the bill, we were made to wait another 15 minutes I then got up and told the waiter to bring us the bill. When he did this the icing on the cake was he tried to overcharge us, normally I don't check bills but the poor service made me question the staffs credibility. When I called him out he said I was wrong (despite me being a quantity surveyor and dealing with numbers everyday) I made him bring me the calculator and low and behold he had overcharged us £4, not going to break the bank but it's the principal. The waiter didn't apologise he just looked embarssed and tried blaming his colleague (it wasn't his college, it was him as I saw him do it) disgusting service. Avoid...
Read moreUnless you like coconut I wouldn't bother. Thought I would try something from their specials...and it was far from being special! Ordered the Chicken Makhani (Butter Chicken) and all it tasted of was coconut. I'm no culinary expert but I've eaten a fair few Butter Chicken dishes in my time and none of them have ever tasted of coconut! Called the restaurant but was told that that's how it is. Smells like BS to me...in fact that probably would have smelt and tasted better. I suspect that it was just a Korma sauce and they added a bit of tomato and a bit of butter...and the end result just ended up in the bin! Having googled both Butter Chicken and Chicken Makhani, there is no mention anywhere of this dish containing coconut. Unfortunately it wasn't just this dish that was disappointing and damn right disgusting, I also ordered the Matter Paneer, and strangely this also tasted of nothing but coconut and looked exactly like a Korma sauce and on top of that I had just two chunks of Paneer, so this should have just been called a Pea Korma. To be fobbed off so easily is just disrespectful! You've lost...
