Went to the Inn on the Green on a Wednesday evening with a group of friends for quiz night. We all had the burger and a beer/soft drink deal and all agreed the burgers one great. One of the guys even said it was the best burger he’d eaten in a while, in front of his wife, who said they'd had homemade ones recently, oops. We also had a nice bottle of white wine, which I enjoyed drinking with my chicken burger. Anyway we went for there for the quiz, I was quietly confident we would do well as I had won two weeks in a row with three of my friends. However we only managed to come second to last, due to a reckless answer in the wipe out round. Never mind it’s the taking part that counts, and spending some quality time with friends in a lovely local refurbished pub. Quiz guy was very good, kept the questions going and made sure nobody was on their phone. I would mention his name but I've forgotten it, sorry. Anyway, hoping to go back with my original (winning) group of friends again this week. So if anyone is up to the challenge, grab a mate or a few and come and join us. Quiz starts around 8pm but we got there about 7pm to get some food first. One of us even ordered via an app, from the comfort of their chair, while the rest of us went to the bar. Staff were all friendly and helpful, so I’m happy to do a review for them, just hope we can still get a table if it gets busy.

Visited last night (03/01/23) around 19:30 with a few friends just to have a couple of drinks and to watch the football and darts. The pub was pretty quiet, just another couple of groups watching the sport.

The reception was pretty frosty from the bar staff whilst ordering our drinks and when I asked if it was possible to change one of the tv’s over to the darts I was told no very bluntly (by a girl with a blonde ponytail) because all tv’s had to be on the same channel which I thought was strange but if that is the case fair enough.

Looking for a table to sit on was the next mission as none of them were overly clean but settled for the one covered in salt because we could just sweep it off.

Next thing I see is one of the punters leaning over the bar, grabbing the remotes and successfully changing one of the tv’s to the darts without all of them changing, so the girl is just lazy and more interested in looking at her phone or she needs training on how to use a remote.

Once settled I was just looking around the pub from my seat and the whole aesthetic of the place was off, shabby looking and half taken down Christmas decorations with debris of the discarded decorations still stuck to the ceilings and walls, the place just looked tired.

Went to the toilet and you smell them before you see them, walls and floor grubby and the soap dispenser filled with water to stretch out the soap, whether this is to save money or had run out I don’t know.

Football finished so the commentary was turned off and some music put on, fair enough. The Darts final was still on and nowhere near finished so asked the fella behind the bar if we could have the commentary on for the rest of the game he said yeah he’ll do it now. I saw him fumbling around looking for something and after about five minutes all he done was turn the music down then gave up, we couldn’t be bothered to ask again because everything felt like getting blood out of a stone with the staff on this particular night.

This visit was so bad it was funny, for a place with a lot of potential it really fell short of our...

What an awful experience start to end. Now before I go on, granted, our visit was on one of the busiest nights of the year being the evening of the annual bonfire night fireworks display. However, we booked a table, and arrived with no one able to seat us. Sat us down eventually after queuing at the bar. Didn't give us menus, explain to us how to order, nothing just table and gone. We used the app to order being as we knew how but others would have been sat waiting on a waiter. Anyway, order placed and drinks came, no fruit shoot for kids but was still available in the menu, agreed to swap to cola no big deal. Starters come out, complete shite to be honest. Some of the worst and cheapest I've ordered. No side plates for us to eat off, nothing. Not enough cutlery on the table no one asked if we needed anything. We ate the starters and saw no staff coming. When the mains came after a short delay we mentioned a missing cocktail that was ordered 40 mins ago with the drinks and food that had come out and the manager told us there's a big queue at the bar it'll be coming. Ate the mains, still no drink. Went to the bar and the bar man said we had swapped the £8 cocktail for a £2.50 coke which is not what was discussed nor is it logical. Anyway after all the manager informed the cocktail ordered was not available despite being still on the menu. So changed cocktail and an hour and a bit after ordering had to neck it rather than enjoying as I had places to be. Not one bit impressed to be honest, everyone was rude and the place was far too loud with the music all the way up. Definitely do not visit for food.

UPDATE: Whilst I thank the manager for his response I don't believe it is very professional to suggest I have falsified the events. There may have been a misunderstanding regarding the mix up with the drinks but regardless of this the bar tender thought it ok to replace an £8 cocktail with a £2 cola and offer no refund. Anyway the service was shocking start to end and despite being a nice venue an overall...

Had 2 tables booked for 5 o'clock, when we arrived we were told it was for 6 even though this was booked over the phone and confirmed. We placed a drinks order which took 40mins to arrive with items missing. I went to the "sheltered" smoking area as it was raining, it may aswel not exsisted, it leaked heavy and i give up as i got soaked, i asked for an alternative and was told there was none and they are aware of how bad it was! Why has this not been rectified? We were a large group celebrating my sons birthday, we were told repeatidy to sit down and thats fine as rules are rules, however i did witness a smaller group conversing together and standing up near to us. I was approached by someone else, manager maybe, "are you making that racket? !" so i was rude back and replied "does it look or sound like me?" without apology she stormed off! We also ordered food, in seperate groups but the food was a long wait and did not come complete as all our drinks orders, meals were missing certain items on the dishes repeatidy, we asked for condiments and that was a hardship, surely these should have been offered? bear in mind most meals are served with chips, they had no vinigar, however, there is a shop directly opposite! Maybe the boss did not want to get her hair wet!!! The host was very patient with us and the bar lady victoria was so polite and sweet, who ever manages this pub needs to go, the pub was empty, the wait for drinks and food were rediculous and so diss-organised. Its awfully managed. Thankyou victoria.

05/09/2020 Nice to have a response after a few weeks, says it all that you dont actually care and you are an awfull manager! Review was put in....3-4 weeks ago. Ive owned/managed pubs for 23 years, this is not how you deal with a...
