absolutely love this place! me and my family love to eat food from our native Turkey, and we're extremely picky about where we go. We used to have to travel into east london whenever we wanted proper Turkish food, but since Menad popped up, we've been perhaps 15-20 times. great service, friendly staff, extremely flavoursome meat, and generous portion sizes. I'm happy to say that the food actually seems to have improved even more in the past year which is great. In essex, there seem to be many new kebab houses open up, which want to cater to the "TOWIE crowd", all fancy, pretentious stuff, which i don't like at all. Bogaz in Chelmsford for instance doesn't allow children after 6pm and you can't wear trainers. Turkish food is all about spending time with the family, overeating, and then washing it down with a bottle of Efes, and then copious amounts of Turkish tea. You're not supposed to have a cocktail with your adana kebab. This is a straight up, traditional kebab house and in my opinion, is just as good as the kebab houses you get in north london. Highly...
Read moreVery friendly manager in light blue shirt. I guess he was the manager because he wasn't in uniform. Made us feel welcome. However lots of waiters kept ignoring our table as they went by several times without keeping an eye out and observed that we were not served for over half hour even though we did not take long to chose our menu. I politely asked a waiter for service. Sadly the female waitress bought my green tea in a small cup which to my horror had a large chip which is unhealthy. Excuse was that only had glass mug? That was good as it's larger and not chipped. But even more annoying she bought olives in a crockery which had an even bigger chip! ! I could see it looked black with .....so that put me off my meal. I was too embarrassed to complain again. Plus didn't want to complain in front of my special lovely guest. Would I return to this place. No. Basic hygiene and commonsense, it is an insult to serve in chipped crockery. Especially in a restaurant. And not just once but twice. We did leave a generous tip though as we are nice...
Read moreFood was nice. Waiters were sarcastic and clearly didn’t want to be there. When ordering spinach on the menu, I was told it hasn’t been available for two years. Some menus had tippex on, some didn’t. When asking why they hadn’t just updated their menus, we We’re told they were too expensive. The waiter didn’t use a notepad or pen, reiterated our order back and got it wrong and laughed. We asked if they could kindly call a taxi. The smaller, more arrogant waiter said no because he didn’t have a number. We asked him again to see if he was joking, he shrugged his shoulders and raised his hands, again saying no. Staff let the chefs down,...
