Do not visit if you want a coffee or something to eat. Can't vouch fo the record side of the business. Went in for a quick bite to eat on a Saturday. Wasn't very busy and easily found a table. Wanted 2 jacket potatoes. Informed they didn't have any! OK. So ordered 2 ham and cheese toasted sandwiches. After waiting 55 minutes and 3 trips to the counter to ask where they were and being told they would be delivered soon, then numerous people served after us receiving their orders, the girl behind the counter barely apologised when saying the ticket had been lost. Eventually got sandwiches after about an hour. Ordered a 2nd cup of coffee during one of my many visits to the counter and that took over 10 minutes to arrive. Excellent destination for some Music & Cake ! Slipped Discs at the front of the store is a veritable Aladdin's Cave of Vinyl & CDs. The two very knowledgeable staff are always willing to search for & order in any customer requests for Records & Discs & even music related DVDs Books etc. Brown Sugar at the back of the store serves a wide range of appetizing Food & Beverage options including a Vegan selection. Visited during lockdown for a takeaway sandwich. Good COVID provision at the entrance. It was lovely to walk through the music part of the store, but there was plenty of space to look at the cafe area. Dazzled by the choice of paninis, I chose ham and cheese and the assistant made it fresh for me. It was fresh and delicious - perhaps the best panini I've ever had. Looking at the array of cakes, I succumbed and purchase a scone (which normally comes with jam and cream), and 2 homemade millionaire shortbreads.
