I surprised my partner with brunch here for his birthday this week. What a wonderful experience! I popped in to ask in advance about brunch and was advised to book in just in case the venue got busy. By the time we had finished brunch, it was indeed very busy. We started with a red velvet (him) and turmeric latte (me). The first pleasant surprise was the size of the cup. In an age where lattes are generally served in thimbles, it made a change to receive a tasty hot latte that wasn't all foam in a cup that held a decent volume of liquid. We both went for the full English breakfast and were again pleasantly surprised with the amount of food received. Two sausages is almost unheard of these days. Everything tasted wonderful, including the mushrooms. The sausages were great quality. A really good quality breakfast at a very reasonable price. The service was friendly, with a smile. As it got busier, it was a little less easy to catch the attention of our server. We did notice a couple come and go after waiting to be attended to for more than a few minutes, testament to how busy this place can get. Overall, our personal experience, however, was wonderful. We will definitely be back and am glad to have found a regular brunch and latte haunt. You can tell a lot of care and attention has gone into running such a great place. Flamingo is a reminder of how service and quality used to be as standard and why it's so important to support local independent businesses.

I'll start with the negative - £6.50 for a bottle of Billericay Blonde!? Almost as expensive as my open sandwich that was actually half an open sandwich (one slice of bread). Aside from the high prices, the food was delicious and we had food-envy from some of the other plates being served to tables. Certainly a lot of temptation on the menu. More to try on our next visit perhaps, but I'll bring my pint from the brewery down the road myself.

A big thank you to Emma and Ala for hosting a special birthday party. All guests agreed that the food and service was excellent and nothing was too much trouble for the two waitresses who were cheerful, efficient and attentive. In planning the event Emma went out of her way to accommodate us. Would definitely recommend the venue for a private hire event.

I hardly ever bother writing reviews. So, it just goes to show that people have a limit. Today, I turned up at Flamingo to use a groupon voucher I had paid for and booked back in March for a sparkling afternoon tea for two. I only get weekends off so, I looking forward to this. We travelled 10 miles to get here. When we arrived we walked in we were left standing in the doorway whilst the staff cleared up around us. There was also a party of other adults who had also followed in behind us. I heard a lady in this group talking. She said that she had booked the whole venue. Strange, I thought as we also had a booking for 2pm and the tea room itself seemed small. A few mins later a lady appeared. I presume she was the manager. She came out and welcomed us all, thinking we were part of the large group. A lady behind us ( a customer) then said...I don't know who these people are. Pointing at us. I then showed her our booking for 2pm and in front of everyone. She said "we don't take groupon vouchers, haven't done ever since May as they haven't been paid us" talk about embarrassing! I don't even think a sorry came out of her mouth. I think by facial expressions I had no clue we were going to get turned away but you know its fine...my Sunday was ruined and then another 10 miles drive back home to get something else to eat. I get she might have drama with groupon but have a bit of empathy for your customers! It has put me off ever going...

Enjoyed a delicious Afternoon Tea at Flamingo's.We had a red letter day voucher which we were unable to process, Emma went that extra mile to validate it for us so that we could enjoy our afternoon tea with them .Everything was freshly prepared a choice of 3 different sandwiches, tasty sausage rolls, a creamy cup cake, fudge brownie and a scone with jam and clotted cream. It was all delicious and thoroughly enjoyed it, the only little disappointment was we had a pot of tea and coffee as soon as we arrived so by the time the sandwiches, cake and scones arrived I had finished my tea,I asked for another tea and this we were charged extra for.At other afternoon teas we have visited tea is included for the whole visit even if you have a second pot and some were a little disappointed especially as we had finished the drinks before the food arrived and you can't enjoy a traditional Afternoon Tea without a Traditional...
