I used to like Pret. You used to get nice coffee in a proper ceramic cup, toasted sandwiches cut in half and served with care and presented on a tray. Now you get your diluted coffee in a paper cup, your toasted sandwich tossed on to the counter (in the hope that you notice it's ready) and have to eat it surrounded by decaying and damaged fixtures and fittings. I guess this is the price of maintaining the bottom line 😞 Thankfully there are better independent coffee shops in Basingstoke.

PRET! This shop sells the most wondrous food and drinks, available for a reasonable price and in record time. Last week I used my £10 inheritance from my late grandmother (God rest her soul) to purchase one of their absolutley splendid tuna melts and choccie milkshakes, and I can assure you, I was not disappointed ;) Might I also add a word from the wise: signing up for their rewards program yields up to 5 drinks a day, so I would definitely recommend. Five stars

Amazing place and service. All the staff are so kind and friendly. You have a lots of options to decide which coffee would you like to have. And the food as well, fresh fruit, salad, sandwiches, hot food. it’s a very good place to have a lovely breakfast/lunch/dinner. And don’t forget about the subscription is AMAZING you can have 5 coffee p/day I would recommend %100. I love pret! ☕️💚

As always with Pret it’s a consistent experience and very good on the whole. However, I was bemused today when I discovered that this branch does not sell Pret’s Proper Porridge. The gentleman at the counter said that there is no demand for it. Well, good folk of Basingstoke, all I can say is that it’s a first for me! I’ve been in Pret all over the place and it is the first time I have been told that they don’t sell oat-based porridge because there is no demand for it. I bought the coconut porridge. I’m afraid it’s a pale imitation of the real thing. First and last time. I have given it three stars because it’s not offensive. It’s just not the normal delicious, creamy taste of Pret PROPER Porridge. Sorry Basingstoke management, I simply don’t believe Basingstokers don’t buy normal...

Asked for black coffee to have in was given a take away cup I ask for a ceramic cup was informed they only had small ones I said that would be fine I was given two cups I asked if they wouldn't mind pouring the coffee from the takeaway cup into one of the cup to which the staff member walked way to serve done else again I asked if the could pour the coffee for me again I was ignored so I stood at the counter poured half the coffee into a cup with out making a mess on the counter I left the over cup I half my coffee in the takeaway paper cup . Sat down and write this review Not sad to say I shall not be returning to this over priced coffee...

Never been to a coffee shop where there is no option other than paper cups? Is it now a thing where you spend £20 for 2 people for a coffee and a sandwich for lunch and have to drink out of paper cups with a plastic lid?

Asked for it to be remade and was told they only do paper cups now? This wasn’t the case earlier this year in this same Pret. Also, why ask if you are eating in or taking away if you also don’t get a plate for anything you are eating? A hot wrap eaten out of a cardboard sleeve, really?

Thankfully Starbucks and Costa still know how to serve coffee and food properly so will be taking my...
