The Rose & Crown Pub — Restaurant in Bath

We booked a Sunday roast for 2, living locally we booked an hour in advance and arrived to a warm welcome. This is the first time they had done a Sunday roast for a while, we shared a baba ganoush starter and it was light, creamy and absolutely delicious. We both ordered the beef roast and the plate was almost overflowing with food, the beef was slightly pink and melted in your mouth, the cauliflower cheese was creamy and cheesy and delicious, all of the components of the meal complemented each other. Next we shared a sticky toffee pudding, it was light and spongey, the sauce was full of flavour complemented by the mint garnish and excellent ice cream. Ps. The Guinness that we had with it was absolutely spot on. Would highly recommend to anyone passing by, well done to the rose and crown and good to see sunday lunch back...

Guy behind the bar was surly and really unhelpful. If I hadn't been hungry and stuck in Larkhall I'd have walked out. I asked for a pint of draft bitter. He pointed to the 4 pumps and he said: " why do you think the labels are all turned round? We've got no draft beer!" The picture of the food on their website is a joke because it suggests it serves good food. But it's really only burgers and hot dogs, served on a stupidly small plate. Also there's a 10% 'discretionary' service charge added, but for what exactly? No style, poor service, barman more interested in serving his locals. Amazing find. We were delighted to discover this warm and friendly pub when we came to the area for a trip to the local theatre. The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. I have specific dietary needs and they were wonderfully willing to accommodate me. The food was beautiful; utterly delicious and cooked to perfection. The atmosphere in the bar and restaurant was warm and friendly. We can't wait to come back again. Totally worth the drive. If you're in the area this place will absolutely make you happy.
