The taste of the broth is averagely similar to instant noodles I can get in East Asia. The cut of the pork is too thick and it’s so lean which makes it super dry and hard to chew. However the ramen is nice and the portion for the meat is very generous. The onigiri is just ok. The service is not too bad but I feel staring and they urge me and friends to order food. We just sat down for 10 sec and they ask for what do we drink. Like dude I haven’t even get to look at the menu yet… and after a rush order of drinks we only gets like a minute for them to came back and ask us to order the food. It was around 12:40pm where the restaurant just opened and there is only us and another table in there. Like lowkey bad experience.

Service and staff were friendly. Restaurant was a bit dingy and dark. Tables were strangely sticky even after wiping down a second time. Food: we ordered the Ibento sushi boat to share for the two of us (~£34= ~$60CAD) The rice was over cooked and not seasoned so it was very mushy and tasteless. The fish quality was fine but slices of fish on the nigiri were cut very thin (like smoked salmon thin) maybe they were having an off day but we were not impressed. Sushi boat had 4 different kinds of rolls, 4 salmon nigiri, 4 tuna nigiri, and some maki rolls. Price was a bit high for what we got. Many others around us ordered the ramen so maybe that’s the dish to get? Would not recommend the sushi if stopping in.

We stayed in Belfast for 2 nights as we were trading in Q-con. I looked up places for Ramen and this place came up first. I seen the rating and I was like it can be true... But surprisingly.. it is. It deserves 5 stars. The sushi was really nice and fresh! And we were surprised the portions were big! I barely could finish my bowl of ramen🍜. I had the vegetarian one and omg it was the best soup I've ever had. Tofu was exquisite!!! For dessert I had purin and it was delicious, so was the Mochi. We were impressed by the food and we would definitely come back. It was a bit pricey but it was worth it.

Been here many times and so disappointed in the service we had on Saturday night just passed. Main issue being that the restaurant was short staffed. Felt like one particular member of staff didn't have a clue what he was doing as well. Staff were getting frustrated with eachother. Had to ask for water multiple times. Had to ask for condiments multiple times (ended up asking the table next to us for theirs as we never got any)... my husband's food came out and I had to wait a further 10/15mins for SOME of my order. When i asked about the rest of my food the member of staff replied quite bluntly with "I don't know anything about that". When the rest of my order was eventually brought out (about another 10mins later), my items were doubled, moved off and on the table, then to another table that didnt order those items, then back to our table before they were corrected as to what we had actually ordered! No one cleared our table before we left. We had to go up to the till to ask for our bill and had we been asked how our meal went we would have told them then and there. I called on Sunday afternoon and was told someone would call me back before the end of the day. I also called on Tues (was also asked if I was complaining from a different table so clearly we weren't the only ones not happy!) as I hadn't heard from anyone and was told once again someone would call me back but same story. No returned phonecall. To say I'm disappointed is an understatement. We've been here so many times before and could never flaw the food or the service, they were always so attentive. I understand being short staffed but when members of staff are visibly overwhelmed and frustrated with eachother it doesn't go unnoticed....

Booked reservation at Kamakura Donegal Pass for 5pm this evening. Ordered pork gyozas for starter which were lovely, and the seafood yaki soba for main course however the tuna and salmon both had an overpoweringly fishy taste and they were colder than the rest of the dish, so much so I couldn’t eat the main, it just didn’t taste nice. Also the salmon still had the grey bit of skin on, which in my opinion is just lazy prep in a noodle dish. I’ve ate at kamakura on the Holywood road 8 times now and ordered the seafood yaki soba 4 of those times, each time the food was superb and cooked to perfection so I know how this dish is meant to taste. When the waitress asked if everything was ok, I said that the seafood wasn’t fresh and that I couldn’t eat it. There was no apology but she did tell the manager whilst I was paying my bill, and the manager went straight to the kitchen rather than coming and apologising to me. I ended up having to pay in full in spite of leaving the majority of my main and not once did I receive an apology, I was just made to feel very awkward and left as soon as I possibly could. Absolutely appalling service which was so disappointing as the service I always received at theHolywood Road restaurant was excellent. I really hope the Donegall Pass restaurant take my feedback onboard when reading this review as they could seriously make people sick by serving seafood like that. Something had clearly gone wrong in their seafood buying or prep and they need to do better. If I end up getting sick tonight I will be reporting the restaurant to Belfast...

The wounds are still fresh.

1 welcoming:

It all started when we tried to enter to the inner slide door. it was stuck. The restaurant was empty it was only the waitress and another lady guest who helped open the door from inside the waitress did not really cared. When we sat down and I ordered sake she was lectured us that we are must be slavic and the sake is not a shot what slavic people think and its more like a wine. ( she was lack of respect towards Slavic people and it was like slavic people don’t appreciate things 😡) That was the moment when we should have left if the waitress so lack of respect towards guest in general or just for Slavic people.

Order: she took the orders 10 minutes later another table came in table of 3. Another 30 minutes later their food was served ours were not. Another 30 minutes later we got our order except mine! I had to wait another 30-40 for my order by the time the table next to us already finished and my friends were full and their order got cold. I was still without food. My order finally came no apologies or what so ever.

The atmosphere:

You can imagine after i was called dumb slav I wasn’t feeling great i had feelings that I should not have felt.

Dirty plates on the nearby tables

Shef was standing on the bar with his dirty socks reaching for drinks.

The floor was like an ice rink in the whole restaurant it wasn’t mopped for ages i think.

We paid 120£ for a Ramen and two...
