After an horrendous experience first time round trying this place out where our order was forgotten about, we decided to give it another go as we thought it couldn’t get much worse.. but we were proved wrong. Most frustratingly is the insane waiting times of over one hour! The complete lack of acknowledgment from the staff who seem to struggle with communication issues. We literally watched people get served who sat down 5 mins after us, eat their meals and leave all within the time that our pizzas had still not even been thought about. Had to ask not once but twice if our pizzas would be ready anytime soon. Hunger had worn off by the time the pizzas eventually arrived to the point we didn’t even feel like eating them. Not once did any staff check we were satisfied or ask if they could get us anything else. So I decided to speak up and make a point that on the two occasions we had experienced this service. The manager was completely unwilling to appreciate how we felt and said it’s just the way our system works. I wasn’t looking to get a full refund but maybe even if they could have knocked off the drinks as compensation towards the terrible service… I’d understand that it would be common practice in other establishments but not for Orto, their pride seems to be much more important than their customers....

We were looking forward immensely to our first visit to Orto, an all day Pizzabar located near Belfast’s Botanic Gardens, so it’s ideal for a pre-theatre meal before heading up to the Lyric. Orto specialises in wood-fired pizza, small plates & salads, alongside a carefully curated speciality coffee and Viennoiserie selection. Many ingredients are locally sourced, with an emphasis on seasonal produce.

We started with a selection of Small Plates; Mixed Olives, Hummus with hot honey & focaccia, and Orto roasted stuffed Jalapeños, which were deliciously cheesy and had quite a kick!

Pizzas are divided into two sections, Red and White. We chose one of each, the Fior di latte, basil, & olive oil, and the Mushroom, fior di latte, baby spinach, pecorino & caramelised onion, both baked to perfection, thin & crispy, with just the right amount of bubble & char (thanks Harry)

These were accompanied by a generous Orto Salad Bowl with gem lettuce, cous cous, hummus, avocado, tomato, red onion, chipotle mayo, focaccia croutons & roquito peppers.

Simple, authentic and tasty Italian-inspired food.

I went there on a weekday for lunch. The pizza service starts at 11.30AM. The place is nice, new and bright. You can choose a tomato or cream pizza base. I ordered pizza number 5 from Red pizza : Salami Milano, pepperoni, prociustto, mozzarella, arugula, garlic oil, parmesan.🤌 It was divine!!! 🤪 I think it's the best pizzeria in Belfast.🇮🇹 The ingredients are 💯 fresh. The dough is supple and crispy in places, with air bubbles on the edges, which attest to a good rise! Hey, you know what? ....You will see the pizzaiolo preparing your pizza🍕 😋🇮🇹 because the kitchen is not hidden behind! she's there ! in the same room behind the large glass counter! ... and in my opinion, this has an advantage for us customers, because it saves us from getting impatient, it reassures us! we see that the cook is clean! organized! knows his job and does it with love... The price is right. (The only negative point is that the room is...

Would highly recommend! Went to Orto for dinner at 18.30 with my boyfriend and we were seated very quickly - the waiting staff were all very friendly and attentive! I had the N'duja flatbread and the number 9 white pizza and oh my the quality of ingredients was incredible, with some really intriguing pizza toppings. I loved every bite! Would also recommend their own Orto Pale Ale which paired very well with the pizza. Also, loved the modern surroundings especially the huge skylight. It got really busy at around 7pm (the word is definitely spreading about this place) so would advise coming down a bit earlier than you would think just so you're seated in good time. Can't wait to come back and try more of, arguably, the best pizza in Belfast!

Came by here after touring the ulster museum because it was right across the street. We got the meatball flatbread and foccacia dough sticks to start. The meatball flatbread was outstanding so delicious and flavourful. The dough sticks were also very good . I got the Orto salad bowl as my main and it was okay there was a lot of sauces going on the bowl just became a bit mushy but was still okay. My friend got the #5 pizza and loved it 10/10! We got the chocolate chip bread & butter pudding for dessert it was 12/10 soooo delicious must order. Would def come back if I ever happened to be in Belfast again!
