Placed an order for delivery. The girl on the phone could not understand so passed us on to someone else. The order still shows up totally wrong. We got 2 items correct and the rest was either something totally different like a pot of curry or just missing. Called back to explain and the girl was very sorry and said the boss was currently out. We explained we will stick with what we received and maybe next time can get some money off for the missing items. She talked about refunding the whole meal and we said no. Later the boss calls us back and insists that's what we had ordered and told us to go elsewhere. He quoted the order and angrily said "well that's what I heard" even mentioned some of the items and again got angry when we said they weren't even delivered. He also said we will not be given any money off as apparently what we received was only a 50p difference even with all that's missing and that's not including the...
Read moreMy boyfriend and I love abacus Chinese! The food is moderately expensive for a takeaway but definitely worth it if you are sitting in. The food is absolutely incredible. I recommend the king prawn fried rice, although I personally need to add more soy sauce. I also recommend the Singapore chow mein - I tried them last night and they were 10/10. The restaurant has a very nostalgic feel to it. It has the wooden interior of a late 2000s Chinese restaurant which I just love, however on our last visit there was a raucous coming from upstairs. I found this very off putting and it frustrated me during the 10 minutes we were there, so I can only imagine how annoying this must have been for the dining in- customers. Altogether, with friendly and helpful staff, delicious dishes and reasonable prices abacus Chinese is one of my favourite Chinese restaurants in...
Read moreThey have a big menu to display but many items weren't available when we ordered and hence have to keep changing orders. The satay kabab was okay to taste, the abacus special dish was indeed special as it was extremely sweet (felt as if it's a sugar syrup). The chicken noodles, on other hand, was so dry that we had to mix with the abacus special dish so that we can swallow it. The udon noodles was alright. The only good dish was complementary prawn crackers. Overall, it's a highly disappointing dinner. I have had better Chinese food nearby in Belfast. Atmosphere is good as it's completely empty restaurant and we dropped in as we didn't get seats anywhere else. I don't think I a going to return anyways even if I don't get a place on...
