I've tried contacting management to no avail so unfortunately forced to write this review about one staff in particular (he wouldnt give me his name so I've got the photo below). Appalling customer service with threats being issued by this young lad who called himself the owner. This was a family favourite place with us here regularly for the chai and desserts mainly. On our last visit we ordered a few things including milkshake for the kids. However they had run out of whipped cream (those who have kids may know how important this is for the kids) but didn't inform us beforehand. However, the kids didn't complain and happily downed the milkshake so I had no issues. I spoke to the young lady there who was there in a hushed tone so other customers wouldn't hear, advising her that I'm ok this time as kids are happy but perhaps next time it's best to advise the customer beforehand of any key missing ingredients. Whilst chatting to her, the lad jumps in about how I was advised about waiting times for the masala fries I ordered (totally different subject, no manners used whilst jumping in to find out if there's a problem and false claim considering I happily waited 20 minutes rather than the 5-10 minutes I was told whilst ordering- I'm accustomed to food preparation being longer than advised at this place due to regular occurrence so it wasnt an issue).
Whilst ordering first, there was no please or thank you or eye contact made by him whilst serving which I ignored but this rudeness and complete lack of manners needs to...
Read moreI ordered just 2 teas, cake slice and a loaded fries. There was no paper menus or takeaway menu leaflets for customers either. If it is a new business, then these should be ready before opening. I wasn't given a receipt or order number. After 15 minutes of sitting waiting around I had the person who served me come to my table ask me what was my order again.. After another 15 minutes the food finally come to my table. The fries were very thin cheap fries and the loaded fries didn't have much cheese on it. It also didn't come with any sauce on top of it.... The waiter forgot the cake slice. So had to tell him and reminded him we ordered cake slice. This then come in a plastic container even though eating in. If eating in, should be served in a plate. Overall not good experience. No receipt system with an order number. Long waiting times for food and it wasn't even busy. Loaded fries wasn't great. Cake served in plastic container instead of plate. 1 staff member came up and asked how was the breakfast I ordered, even though I didnt order it. Another staff member pouring tea from big plastic container into tea container in front of everyone didn't look good either. 1st and last time going there. Was very disorganised and not good service or experience. Bit of a mess...
Read moreThe food had potential but greed has taken over, large karak chai gone from 2.00 to 2.30 within a week, they now charge a an extra 20p surcharge for using card payment (which is illegal). The service is inconsistent but thry have very young and inexperienced staff so forgivable, management needs to have a think too, I believe the older guy in thats there in the morning doesnt know much about customer service and definitely out of touch for the target market these places are aimed at, the surcharge is the final straw ill stick to the karak chai shop next door EDIT:- I have checked in recently, no more surcharge, so well done! Service seems to have improved, however my loyalty is now wavering due to the inconsistent nature of service, it is just too slow! For example I ordered tea the last 2 times other places it just gets poured out of that tea thing, recently its not been warm enough to serv so they have to warm it in a handi in the back adding to wait times, i have seen people wait ages when it gets slightly busy as they seem under staffed 😞 shame really as the product sold arent bad, invest in more experienced staff , in fact invest in more staff, yes it will cost more but thats how you will keep...
