Fargo’s Review Located on Ladypool Road in the heart of Birmingham’s ‘Halal Quarter’, Fargos Fresh take pride in preparing meals fresh to order from cutting fries through to hand pressing burger patties. They offer a large variety of seating and accept reservations. We visited Fargo’s based on a recommendation. We were given a table after about a 15 mins wait. However there was no waiting area, so we were left standing awkwardly in the middle of the restaurant. The decorations of the restaurant is good with dangling lights and plants on show. However the cleanliness was poor as the bar near the entrance was full of dirty glasses. The staff seemed laid back with a not bothered attitude. The menu has plenty of options to choose from to everyones taste. They also offer kids options. For starters we ordered Firecracker Boneless Wings. This is described as Coated chicken breast strips tossed in firecracker sauce, garnished with spring onion, red chilli, toasted sesame seeds and lime. It was rather tasty, full of flavour, but the portion was extremely small for its price. For the mains, Mr chose the Chilli Rib Steak Burger. This comes with a 4oz ‘smashed’ Aberdeen Angus beef patty, shaved Aberdeen Angus ribeye steak sautéed with diced onions & mixed peppers, mature cheddar cheese, mozzarella cheese, hot pepper relish, avocado & green chilli crema, roquito peppers, pickled jalapenos, leaf lettuce, tomato, red onion. It was a decent juicy burger. Missus chose the Grilled Teriyaki Steak Noodles. Served with teriyaki glazed Aberdeen Angus sirloin steak, mixed peppers, onions, bok choy, beansprouts, red chilli, teriyaki sauce. Garnished with spring onions, sesame seeds. The spice level adjusted on request. Tasty but again slightly small portion. The staff here were confused about our order and we were served the wrong drinks twice. We were unfortunately let down by the poor customer service from the start. Fargo’s is HMC certified. They have a praying area upstairs. Overall, the food quality was good, but we found the food was more pricey compared to other similar restaurants. Our Rating: 6/10

The OG of halal gourmet food in Birmingham, one of the pioneers of bringing a diverse food scene to our city. It is one of those places that doesn’t, or rarely disappoints. I have been here many times with friends and family as it caters for both gatherings. There is ample seating in this restaurant so even during busy times, there isn’t much of a wait time. We normally plan outings around salah times however funnily enough, in the heart of the vibrant halal restaurants, it is one of the very few that has a space for both men and women to pray so even if you visit during salah, you can offer your prayers in tranquility. As a place that has a firm emphasis on food, it’s always refreshing their offerings and changing dishes to keep their menu fresh. Right now my firm favourite is the steak tray which you can choose from lamb, chicken or beef steak, along with two sides and a sauce for a very economical cost of £20. They also offer an extensive mocktail menu so you really are spoilt for choice It is one of the very few restaurants in Birmingham that know how to cook a steak properly, medium rare or rare. Go to any other place and they would look at you weirdly for even suggesting a medium steak let alone know how to make it! One bite of the steak and you can taste the delicious poor cow who sacrificed her life for this moment. I highly recommend this place to anyone for the food. I also hear they might be refurbishing to offer a refreshed Fargo experience.

Like many places in the city it's a nice comfortable place to take family. The staff were polite and helpful and the ambience was great. The food all looked great - fantastic even - and was nice enough but not bursting with flavour. Except the chilli cheese samosas (I think they were called) which were full of flavour but ironically looked the most bland. For the mains we ordered beef burgers and the nagatron steak kebabish. Most places can do nice chicken burgers and I'm sure fargo's is among them but I wanted to see if they could nail a beef burger. In my experience it's even more rare than finding a decent steak place is a place that does truly flavourful beef burgers. Fargo's wasn't an exception and essentially just hoped the cheese and the sauce and the feat of engineering required to pile everything so high would hide the fact it was tasteless. You can tell they're enthusiastic but they're well wide of the mark. Those burgers need to be charred on the outside and juicy on the inside and seasoned. Also I'm not a fan of building burgers so tall that only a jinn can eat without you needing to dislocate your jaw to eat it. There's no shame in a single pattie that can be eaten by a normal person. If made properly it would be far better than these civil engineering projects that come our way. Less can be more. If I were again I'd probably just stick with a chicken burger. The place 10/10 The staff / customer service 10/10 Food overall 6/10

Not impressed. The prices are extortionate. £6.25 for appetisers that consisted of a small bucket of fries - and that was supposed to be the large portion. I can't imagine what the small would be like. The mocktail that we paid £3.25 for was smaller than the kids' drink that came free with the kid's meal. Not to mention that the kid's meal was £2.95 and the mocktail was more expensive than the entire kids meal (meal plus drink). On top of it, the mocktail wasn't even that good, and the kids drink tasted like basic diluted juice from Asda mixed with plain water. And £7.50 for a chinese adult dish that should have been max £5.50. Burger maybe could be argued to be worth the £8.50, but then again when you consider that they just put a tiny little sliver of mayo and guacamole on it - not at all justified for the price. Also the fish patty that I was given was cold on the inside. The meat was not properly cooked throughout - was red and a bit raw. As well I asked for extra jalapeno peppers but when I received the burger, there weren't any. They gave us our order of appetisers (Fargo fries) without telling us that they were charging us 75p extra for what they like to call special 'handcut' fries. What a rip-off. And to top it off, they didn't even provide us with any extra ketchup or mayo or sauce or anyting of that sort until I had to chase down a waiter to get it for us...those sauces should already be on the table. Basically the service was poor, and the value for money is probably the worst I've come across. I didn't have the heart to tell the guy at the end that we had a bad time when he asked us 'how did you like it'...I had to be polite and tell him it was okay, but in reality it was not worth the poor service, the small portions, extortionate prices, and impression that they were cutting corners for making a little dough on the side wherever they could. I'll never go here again and will not recommend it to others. Save your money and go somewhere else worthwhile.. 2/10 (gets a 2 because dishes were ok but not for the price, but the drinks were naff, and because at least they had heating, but the...

I dined here today with my sister and our friend and her 2 young children. We sat and ordered and our drinks came. I’ve been here before and always had a great experience. As we sat waiting for our meals her 4 year old complained about having a poorly tummy, so she took her off to the toilets. Came back. Sat down. Then to my horror she projectile vomited what I can only describe as her body weight in fluid all over the table. So much so, it was dripping over the table on to the floor! The staff were amazing they came over straight away with bundles of blue roll as we tried to take control of the situation! (My sister at this point was of no use- as she sat heaving into the corner) a staff member by the name of ‘Muzz’ came to the rescue - not sure how much he helped but he certainly tried 😂 even though he was clearly struggling at the sight as much as my sister. The staff immediately moved us while my friend took her poorly child back to the toilet to clean her up. We even managed to save the drinks and the staff were just fabulous and didn’t make us feel bad with the mess that was left behind. We were thankfully swiftly moved far away from the disaster that erupted like a volcano (seriously, it was like a scene from the exorcist!). The food was delicious (don’t ask how we ate after that- but we did)! And I just wanted to say thank you Muzz, he had a great sense of humour despite the chaos we brought to Fargos. Big apologies- and I would 100% recommend this place. I’ll just make sure my friend leaves her kids at home next time! 😂 thank you for a pleasant experience! And to all the lads (staff) that helped clean up the mess better than a crime scene. Also the chicken steak and noodles were on point 👌🏻...
