I left this email 10 days ago and no answer how appalling.
Its with great sadness I write you this email. Today at around 9pm I had attended Haute Dolci with my sons, some friends and their kids. I had ordered a fruit bowl for my son in which the strawberries looked filthy. I asked the waitress if the strawberries were washed and she laughed and said 'should be' Unfortunately 'should be' isn't a very definitive answer I had these sent back. I then waited 20 minutes whilst asking 3 waiters where the strawberries and blueberries had gotten too. I then waited another 20 minutes and as were packing to leave lo and behold the strawberries arrived in which it was too late. Sadly, this wasn't the worst experience of the night. I had ordered a Vanilla Cloud and I was eating this and feeding it to my 1 year old. And about half way through the cake I took a bite and felt a crunch. I took pieces out of my mouth which happened to look like eggshell. Upon looking further into this I realised how many pieces of broken eggshells were in my cake. I had been feeding that cake to my 1 year old child and god forbid it scratched his throat or he choked on it. I then asked the waitress to call for a manager, she said 'no need for a manager, I'll take your plate'. I then insisted that I speak to a manager and then she bought along another waitress. I again questioned her if she was a manager and she said the manager isn't here and hasn't been today, which left me a little confused as to why there wasn't any supervision on shift. Anyway I then asked if there was anyone superior, I can speak with. Then a supervisor had been conjured up from somewhere after 10 minutes and when I explained the situation to him and again asked where the manager was to which he replied 'he might come at midnight if you want to speak' I'm sorry is this a flat out joke of a service provided today or was this a nightmare? And they still added the cake and fruit to the bill. I'm am absolutely gobsmacked at the service today. I tend to come for desserts often but this ordeal has left me questioning why bother coming to a place who cannot treat customer to a satisfactory level. Read moreDessert is nice, I like the waffles. I recently ate in and the menu said the cost was £8.80 and I got charged £9.68. When I looked at the receipt it seemed there was a service charge, which I have never encountered in all the times I've come here. Quite frankly I think it's ridiculous that this American culture has been adopted- service charges should come under the food costs. The service charge isn't even that bad, it's the fact that it wasn't mentioned anywhere on the menu or by any of the staff, it was just sprung on us at the counter when we went to pay. I'd argue it's a form of false advertising. Furthermore, there wasn't even that much service apart from the bare minimum of delivering the food to the table to even add a service fee- I could've got up and grabbed the plate myself. Why am I paying for something that wasn't received? Ended up spending near £10 on a waffle when I was made to believe it would be less- extortionate. We are in a cost of living crisis and it's these sneaky additional costs that add up. If you're gonna implement something like this, at least the very least you could do is make your customers aware. It doesn't matter how high quality your branding is, you owe it to make people aware. Otherwise, the food was of good quality and I had an enjoyable experience, but I think that considering the prices were initially high and there are now additional service charges I will not be dining here again.
