Pepe's — Restaurant in Birmingham

As part of the eat out to help out, decided to go here with my family. It was absolute chaos! No system in place in securing a table. Spoke to staff and they said, first come, first served, which meant, if you see an empty table scrounge for it. Never mind having a 1 year old in your arms! We waited patiently for over 1 hour, and it was only when an existing diner got up and said, I’m finished, you can have my table, did we sit down. Ordering the food was simple enough, but there were too many people in the shop waiting for a table, that it made eating there very very uncomfortable as the people in queue were literally perched right next to your table! I’m sure that shops have been told that there should be a maximum capacity, but it appears this has fallen on deaf ears. To add to the fiasco, some people were clearly flouting the rules of the scheme by asking for a carrier bag so they could take their food home. I was under the impression that you had to eat out, not just order and take home to save a bit of money? It’s not my first time here, but after what I have seen morally speaking, I’m sure it will be my last. You have all been warned. There are much more deserving establishments to spend...

The worst service ever ordered chicken rice box with strips and fries waited half an hour for my order by the time I got my food it was cold beyond disappointed, the girl who served me Hiba had my order along with 3 other orders was literally holding the food bags and not even calling out people to take the food so she waited for another 15mins holding my food? I’m there waiting fully aware knowing she’s got my food? until I approached the male staff saying are you going to call my order out or is it still being prepared? So the guy had noticed I waited for over half an hour yet a an apology saying sorry for waiting for almost 40mins but that doesn’t justify giving me cold food and then claiming it’s not cold, which could have been easily replaced which was sat in her hands for over 25mins this is beyond disgusted I’m out off this place food I wasn’t able to eat the food as it was cold, that’s where my food is in the bin I will never order again, stale cold fries cold chicken with chilli sauce is vile! It’s not even original pepe sauce! DONT Hire staff who don’t even know basic customer service this has got to be the worst pepe I’ve been to, I live 2min...

Absolutely unacceptable experience. I ordered a vegetarian paneer burrito meal via Uber Eats from this branch. First, the delivery was significantly delayed because the food was prepared late. When it finally arrived, it was cold.

But that’s not even the worst part.

After taking a bite, I immediately noticed something was wrong — there was CHICKEN inside my burrito. Not just one piece, but several. As a vegetarian, this was deeply disturbing and disgusting. I felt sick and threw it out immediately. This is not just a mistake — it’s a violation of trust and dietary beliefs.

I attempted to contact customer support immediately, but no one picked up my call. I then confirmed with two other Pepe’s branches (Ladypool and City Centre) that a veg burrito should NEVER contain any chicken, so this wasn’t some “new recipe” – this was pure negligence.

This level of carelessness is appalling. If you can’t get basic dietary requirements right, you shouldn’t be serving food. I demand an apology, and frankly, a full refund at the very...
