Been going there for last few days and have tried most of their special dishes. Must say the food is average and fish curries are not the best very sweet. Place is fairly busy not too busy that they should forget to serve small tables. We have been few times not been given the complimentary starter which didn’t really bother us but completely ignoring us and focusing on friends and family was more important too the waiters. After our meal we waited for 15minutes to be asked if we wanted anything more which then I decided to ask for the bill. Whilst waiting and elderly gentleman got quite angry as he was waiting for 2 cups of tea which he shouted across the restaurant to a waiting staff who was too busy takin to a group of lads. The place seems like it only likes to serve people it only knows. We surely felt uneasy bear in mind we have been going for a weeks every night. Second day we asked a gentlemen whom we believed was the manager or owner who the owner was but he literally denied it and said his only a staff not sure why he said that. Avoid the borthas as they are stale and smell like they are off. The pickle they give you fisrt looks so messy which makes you think that it’s been already served to another table and then straight to you without refil or change, when questioned a staff he answered that he poured it himself and was defensive about it. The service we found was terrible very slow food is definitely not fresh to order which a staff said they do as we can tell it’s precooked same with rice. We tried getting attention of the staff members several times but they were too busy either talking to each other or faceing their back towards us and talking to the tables they know. This establishment remind me of Bangladesh a lot it’s a uncle and nephew place if your known you get the service but if your a new customer then sorry sit and wait or get up your selfs and ask. 1 gentle went up to ask for more rice whilst a staff member was too engaged with his friends table when he could’ve walked around and asked if all is good or do the customers want anything but seemed like his friends table was more important. We planned to have Kheer following with tea but the behaviour put me off so much that we left. Funny enough the bill was placed on my table and it didn’t take them long to run to grab the bill pad only to walk away and check that we haven’t even paid which at the moment I made a comment saying “your fast at taking money without checking but service is ignored”. The waiting staff is definitely under qualified for the role and they seem like headless chickens doing the job. The staff need more training and also need to be told that other customers are paying guests too not just their friends or family. I know I didn’t go to a 5 star restaurant but it’s still a establishment that charges me for their service so we should be treated the same. Very disappointed overall and if they don’t action this soon they soon will realise that someone else will open one similar and give better service better food and they will struggle. Food places should be all about service. I’ve seen better services in Bangladesh than these guys absolutely horrendous. The management is so defensive if you tell them anything, they say they don’t reheat food which is a complete lie as they young lad was hearing something in the microwave behind the bar then serving it to customer. So why be so defensive and say we don’t use microwave to heat stuff when...
Read moreNEVER AGAIN!!! This was my first time at this Poncho Khana restaurant and my last. Firstly, my family and I had booked at 5pm in advance, there was really no need to book at all because they didn't even have it written down. Secondly we had placed an order, starters and the main. The Manager/Owner had taken our order. It took OVER AN HOUR and still had nothing on our table. How, as a mother, can you stay calm when your young children at the age of 4 and 5 are sitting at a table waiting for food. I mean at least bring something thats cooked, anything will do at this point. I got up and went to see the guy who took my order (the Owner/Manager) and guess what?! He was munching away on a wrap, not bothered to check up on his customers. I just wanted to leave but thought I'll remind him that we're still waiting. The funny thing is that he asked me which table i'm seated at!! this restaurant is not that big, its the smallest one i've been to. (DO NOT MAKE THAT MISTAKE AGAIN!!) The table behind us had their food before us even when they came half-an hour later! The Owner/Manager spoke to me as if i was in the wrong!! I mean, he is walking around with a full stomach and my children wanted to get out of there, tired of waiting and hungry. Not their fault. I had enough of this bull and got up with my family until they decided to bring the food out to the table!! Only then when your about to leave!! I'll be letting the rest of my family and friends know about this Poncho Khana restaurant. I don't get how this is a 4-star...
Read moreAssalamu Alaikum 😄, We have visited before, and Poncho Khana again exceeded our expectations! All the staff are excellent, and very welcoming 🤗, especially Mamun 🤩. It impressed me how the staff were eager and quick 💨🚄 to cater for these other customers who had asked for screens/barriers to maintain privacy, and likewise, their hospitality instantly made us feel at home 🏡. We first had daal (lentil) fritters, which were very delicious 🤤, with fresh salad, chillis and sauce. Sorry, I forgot to take pictures of the food throughout 😅, and my photos won't do the food justice. To highlight a few things: the lamb curry and biryani were cooked perfectly and the pashwari naan was immaculate 😋. We ate nice, warm mishti (gulab jamun) afterwards, and enjoyed some soothing tea 😌. The atmosphere was very warm, with nasheeds playing in the background: for example, Rahmatun Lil'Alameen and Assalamu Alayka by Maher Zain. The decor in the restaurant was perfect, and the lighting enhanced the atmosphere💡☀️. I was glad to see drinks such as Rubicon and Vimto being served 🍹 instead of the likes of Coke and Sprite. The restaurant is very close to the masjid 🕌, so you will be easily able to pray your salah before or after visiting, and the masjid was beautiful, subhanallah. Poncho Khana had very good hygiene, and it is comfortably convenient to wash your hands before and/or after eating. The price of the food was very reasonable, and definitely worth it! Best bengali restaurant! 🥇🏆 Jazakallah Khayr 👍👍👍 Insha allah we...
