Restaurant Review: A Culinary Gem in Birmingham

Yesterday, I had the pleasure of dining at one of Birmingham’s finest restaurants, and it was an experience worth sharing. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was warm and inviting, striking the perfect balance between elegance and comfort.

The food? Simply outstanding. Each dish was a masterpiece—beautifully presented, bursting with unique flavours, and crafted with meticulous attention to detail. The sushi, in particular, was the best I’ve had in Birmingham—fresh, expertly prepared, and on par with top London sushi restaurants. But it wasn’t just the sushi; every dish was exceptional, with distinct flavours that made each bite memorable.

The service was just as impressive. Our server, Melika, was attentive, friendly, and genuinely passionate about ensuring we had a great dining experience. The highlight of the evening came when the chef, Jacky, personally visited each table. When he stopped by ours, he humbly shared insights into his cooking methods, explaining how each dish was made from scratch. More importantly, he was eager to hear our feedback—a rare and thoughtful gesture that showcased his dedication to his craft.

This restaurant isn’t just about outstanding food—it’s about delivering an unforgettable experience. If you’re looking for top-tier sushi and a carefully curated menu filled with uniquely delicious creations, this is the place to be. Highly...

We visited this restaurant for a birthday dinner after seeing a lot of hype and advertising about it. Unfortunately it fell short on multiple fronts. To start, they mixed up our reservation assuming we were a party of six, which led to a rather awkward start as we explained what had been confirmed over the phone. Upon entry they served us water without mentioning it would be £5 and refilled it during the meal without asking, adding another £5 to the bill each time.

The menu was underwhelming and while visually impressive, lacked substance. My main course of scallops cost around £20 but amounted to just 4 small scallops on a nearly empty plate - ridiculous for the price. Service was very slow, despite our specific request to have sushi before our mains; instead, they brought everything at once meaning cold sushi alongside warm main courses. They eventually apologised for the service, but the lack of attention to detail was disappointing, especially for a birthday.

We had pre arranged a birthday cake, but rather than bringing it after the meal, they asked if we wanted desert making it awkward yet again. They eventually remembered the birthday cake and brought it after we had eaten our ordered replacement desert and were not hungry anymore.

Overall the decor is nice it doesn't make up for the slow service, confusing charges and lack of care for special occasions. Not the experience we were hoping and...

Dining at Satori was a truly unforgettable experience that left a lasting impression. From the moment we arrived, the ambiance drew us in—sophisticated yet inviting, striking the perfect balance between modern elegance and cozy charm.

The culinary experience was nothing short of extraordinary. Every dish was beautifully crafted, both visually and in flavor. The combination of fresh, high-quality ingredients and masterful technique was evident in each bite. The chef’s creativity shone through with complex, harmonious flavors that delighted the palate.

What set the evening apart, however, was the outstanding service. Our server, Kunan, went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. His deep knowledge of the menu, thoughtful recommendations, and genuine passion for the cuisine enhanced every aspect of the meal. His warm, attentive service added a personal touch that made the evening feel special.

An unexpected highlight was the opportunity to meet the chef, who shared insights into his inspirations and cooking philosophy. It added a deeper appreciation for the dishes we enjoyed and brought a heartfelt connection to the meal.

Satori delivered on every level—from stunning ambiance to exceptional food and standout hospitality. I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone in search of an elevated...

We had high expectations considering the reviews but left feeling that we wouldn’t go back there. While the decor is beautiful and the atmosphere is lively, the food was no better than several other much cheaper Japanese restaurants in Birmingham (including Tokyo near New Street station), for example, the sushi was very overpriced, somewhat bland, and lacked bite. On the upside, the aubergine was wonderful and the amuse-bouche and complimentary yuzu chocolates were fantastic. That said, there is a lack of vegetarian options, which they apologised for, but even basic items such as gyoza and miso soup could not be made vegetarian-friendly. The main issue was that the staff were overly attentive to the point that we couldn’t have a conversation because they interrupted every few minutes. For some reason, two different staff were attending to us and so they both asked the same questions and we were offered drinks no less than eight times, and they were quite pushy about us ordering drinks that we didn’t really want. They asked multiple times how the food was, including before we’d even taken a mouthful on one occasion! It was really disruptive.
