First time I've been here, heard some great things about it. We came for a meal before going shopping. It's definitely a popular place if you've never been before, so I would recommend reversing a table if in larger groups. As it was just the two of us, we got seated immediately. I eat both veg and non-veg meals, I picked up the vegetarian/vegan menu and was pleasantly surprised how many options there are for vegans and vegetarians alike. However as I wanted the meat option so we chose the mixed kebab wrap (assuming it's a small portion), a chicken karahi and garlic naans. Whilst we were ordering I noticed that this place does cheese chilli chips. When the food arrived I was surprised at the decent portion sizes, the cheese chilli chips was a cheese lovers dream. In fact I would say perhaps taking some off, I would never have thought I would ever say this, may the cheese lords forgive me. You order the food at the front, to the left once you're ready, and drinks at the bar to your right. Again we couldn't finish it all, but 99% of it was definitely finished. I would definitely recommend it if you like Indian pub food settings and a team of colleagues that seemed to be patient and helpful. Big portions well spiced and flavoured food.

Soho Taverns Masala Chips are a culinary delight, earning a well-deserved 10/10. From the moment they arrived at the table, the tantalizing aroma of spices covered in sauce and yet still a crispy chip promised an unforgettable experience. The chips were perfectly crisp on the outside while maintaining a fluffy interior, striking an ideal balance of textures. The masala seasoning on mixed grill was masterfully blended, featuring a vibrant mix of spices that provided a burst of flavor with each bite. The combination of cumin, coriander, chili, and a hint of tangy lemon created a complex and satisfying taste profile. Service at Soho Tavern was prompt and super friendly, with staff members who were clearly passionate about their food. The restaurant’s ambiance, featuring modern decor and a lively atmosphere, made it an inviting place to enjoy a meal. In conclusion, Soho Tavern Masala Chips are a standout dish that perfectly showcases the restaurant’s skill in blending flavors and textures. It’s a must try for anyone who appreciates well executed, flavorful comfort food. Highly recommended for both casual diners and food enthusiasts seeking an exceptional dining experience.

With over two decades of exploration in Punjabi bar & grills, I've observed the evolution of this cuisine trend, from its beginning’s to its current popularity. Regrettably, my outing to Soho Tavern failed to meet even the most modest expectations. Soho Tavern's offerings rank among the lowest in the realm of Punjabi mixed grill restaurants in my opinion. The authentic flavors of Punjab seem to have vanished, replaced by dishes lacking the depth and richness of earlier times. It's disheartening to witness the growth of new grill establishments, only to serve disappointing and uninspired food. While the portion sizes at Soho Tavern are adequate, and the recent makeover has enhanced the ambiance, the same cannot be said for the food. The excessive emphasis on grilling has overshadowed the curries, leaving them empty of the vibrant flavors I once cherished. Overall, the dishes at Soho Tavern fail to capture the true essence of Punjabi cuisine. The lingering unpleasant aftertaste of the curries add further to the disappointment. Despite granting them the benefit of the doubt after reading many negative reviews, this visit proved to be the last for me. The service was also below average. Thus, I can only assign Soho Tavern a mere 1 star, hoping others may avoid a similar culinary letdown.

Unreal Grill and Curry House in Birmingham. Grilled meats are just the best around. The traditional Asian curry dishes are unbelievably tasty; both meat and vegetarian. Portions very good value for money and generous. I'll make the trip up from Bristol multiple times per year because it's that good. Staff are polite and friendly. Atmosphere, warm and welcoming with a posh-pub like feel. A well priced bar with alcoholic drinks available. Live Sports on TV, upstairs seating, and balcony/outdoor seating in suitable weather. Can get very busy suggest booking in advance on a Fri/Sat evening. 100% recommend to anyone for mixed-grills and curries. Always make sure to order a side of the famous Chilli Chip!! Also plenty of take away boxes and bags to fill up with left overs to take home. One of my favourite spots to chill at mid-week watching sports, eating grub, and having a beer with friends as a student in the City. Only downside, parking an be difficult so recommend a taxi or Uber especially, if you plan to have a drink.

Visited on a weekday lunchtime. Had been here for a desi mixi before, but not for many years. Pub has been nicely refurbed and almost doesn't suit the area it's located in. Staff were very pleasant, from barman through to restaurant service. Beer selection was great. Food was lovely for the most part, and great that they let you switch out bits of the mixed grill, but the kebabs on it were dry and hard. The taste and texture made me suspect they may have been leftovers from the previous day. That was a disappointment to be honest. I expected a lot better from here. If I'm wrong about it being leftovers, then I hope they must've just had an off day. I had good memories of the food here from my previous visit, and their West Bromwich place is great, so this was a surprising let down. If I ever come here again, it will be later in the day and hopefully all of the food will taste fresh.
