Chandi Chowk on Soho Road offers a glimpse into traditional Indian dining, but my recent visit was a bit of a mixed bag. I'm giving it 3 out of 5 stars, as the experience was a little frustrating despite some promising aspects. The first thing that caught my eye was the small stand outside, where fresh jalebi was being made. The smell was incredible, and I was tempted to try some. A quick enquiry about the price revealed they were £9 per kg and made fresh to order. I didn't want a full kilo, but I did spot a few pre-made ones that were still warm to the touch. I bought a few of these and headed inside to pay. Inside, the restaurant was clean and seemed to have a good number of happy diners enjoying their meals. The menu was extensive, with a focus on traditional Indian dishes, although I didn't see many street food options. As I was paying for the jalebi, I noticed some tempting-looking bread pakora. They were cut into triangles, and I decided to grab a couple. I didn't realize at the time that they had a filling of mashed potato with a distinct minty flavour, which had been coated in a pakora batter and deep-fried—a unique twist! This is where the frustration began. The assistant took my two pieces of bread pakora to the back, and after a couple of minutes, came back out and said it would be "two minutes" to warm them up. Ten minutes later, I was still waiting and had to go back outside to check on my order. The assistant then went to collect them, and I finally got my warmed-up pakora. While I understand the need to serve food warm, the long wait for something that should have been a quick transaction was annoying, especially since all I wanted to do was pay and get on with my day. Overall, Chandi Chowk has a good vibe and seems to be a popular spot for dining in. The jalebi was a delicious, warm treat, and the unique bread pakora was a pleasant surprise. However, the wait time for a simple item really dampened the experience for me. If you're in the area and have some time to spare, it's worth a visit to try their traditional menu and see what you think. Just be prepared for a bit of a wait, even for...

Food was very tasty! The big problem is the manager needs to step in and organise the staff because the manager is hiding behind doors if this was any other English restaurant first they would have said I’m sorry and definitely would have gave discount! Ladies with this attitude doesn’t work in this country especially if you’re running a very busy restaurant needs to be shut down or get proper professional staff rude staff they don’t smile!
