We phoned 3 times to book a table on a Friday evening 08.11.24, nobody bothered to answer the phone. We thought the bar staff must be busy so we drove 5 miles to the pub and arrived at 7pm. We asked if we can order food, the two bar staff who were friendly, confirmed they don't do food. The bar staff and the only two customers in the Lounge suggested we could order the food from Soho Tavern (who I believe own the Black Eagle) and have it delivered by UberEats. We duly left to go elsewhere. I used to go to this pub quite often between 1990-1995 and was owned and run by three fantastic actors. The food was to die for. I would say, it was then one of the best pubs in the whole of Birmingham. However, if you are looking for food, it appears to be none existent and the photographs of food are months or years old. The website is misleading about food. I have given the one star due to the friendly staff but it you are looking for food here it is very hit and miss. Perhaps the owners should clarify their food policy rather than misleading customers and wasting their very...
Read moreI first walked in to a nice friendly warm atmosphere, and was greeted kindly by the bar staff, who after asking served me a 'WARM' bottle of Sauvignon Blanc.. In a bucket full of water, with some 'floaters' of ice.. 1st impressions.. warm white wine?... I then proceeded to the restaurant area, where I was greeted by lot's of cheery people, which was nice.. We ordered 2 steaks, both of which were oozing,'swamped' in BLOOD, as was definitely not specified in the original order... Little to say I have recently checked online, and they may be under new management?? So standards may have plummeted like a lead balloon, over past reviews. The Staff were menacing, and very unfriendly, because we sent the steak back to be re'conditioned' (BLOOD).... I went to this place under recommendation, and was extremely...
Read moreOrdered on Deliveroo. Took an hour to arrive, 40 minutes of which was them making my food, a sausage and bacon sandwich and a coffee. The coffee absolutely stunk and was 90% milk. It was almost as if they had reused coffee beans from half-drunken drinks. The bacon was undercooked and chewy and I found 2 small bones in the sausages, one of which, I accidentally swallowed. I literally spat out the coffee when I drank it and had to throw it away. It was literally inedible. The sandwich was only just about edible, I only forced myself to eat it because the charged me just under £9 for a sandwich and a drink. To add insult to injury, they even charged me 10p for the cheap blue plastic bag that...
