Yewtree Cottage — Restaurant in Birmingham

I attended the cottage tonight with 11 members of my family.....the restaurant was empty we were the only people in there. One waiter serving.....it took him 50 minutes to take our orders and wasn't happy to accept three different bills within the group (hello we are paying customers and if I want 20 bills the customer is always right) anyway he only by this point had taken half the orders of which hadn't made its way into the kitchen!!!! An order was placed for sea bass he came back no fish I said restaurant has no fish how is this possible he goes back in kitchen and comes back and says I have some salmon will that do....huh ok goes away comes back again flustered and rambled on about something else. By this point some of my family members had decided to walk those that had kids. My point really is this if they can't cope with 12 people how the he'll are they running a business, service slow no food and then have cheek to charge us for poppadoms.....staff have no people skills and certainly don't have the credentials to run a business. My daughter was left starving and so we left. I would never use this place again despite using it for several years. I left and attended a reputable establishment where fine dining was certainly met. Overcharged for an already overpriced and cheap tasting food. My wife and I have eaten here twice, both times they have thrown in something for 'free' but certainly this most recent time they have over charged us.

First time we went there I tried a dish that I'd never tried before, I forget what it was but I found it too sweet. Since I hadn't tried it before I put it down to being a dish that I'd never tried.

This time I had a balti, a pretty standard Indian dish, but it seemed like just generic curry, slightly watery. Also, it had incredibly little meat in it, like seriously, how expensive is chicken? For the price you charge it should be...

Oh dear never again! Dreadful, dreadful, dreadful... It took over an hour and a half to receive our online order, the onion and the mint dip were crushed all over the order in the bag, the food was cold and what was worse was the order was completely wrong, the mushroom balti was supposed to be hot but it was mild whilst the other order was supposed to be mild and it was hot? Being vegetarian I could not swap the other problem was both orders were almost completely mushrooms, mad! I love mushrooms but it was mushroom overload...Never again and would not...
