I went by to pick up my mobile order 7th November 10.45am and gave them 10 minutes to prepare it before I rocked up. As I work in a coffee shop at a drive thru myself and hate to be that person who shows up straight away after placing the mobile order.
For one my toasties wasn't even toasted but mainly it was the customer service that I was angered by.
A middle-aged man took my order, to which I said I have a mobile order to collect. He said "Well usually ypu have to come in to the store". To which I said right I didn't know, I'd never heard of Costa not giving it mobile orders at drive-thru. When everywhere else I've been does, and it makes sense to. I drove round and challenged it to the man and the older lady who passed me my order (that was ready). I asked if I had my 1 year old child asleep in the back seat, they're telling me I'd had to carry him in, waking him up in the process? They said yes... the guy then popped his head round and asked the older lady "she's got her order?". The woman said "yeah" and he replied "no problem then" and she gave me a dirty glare. So I gave them both the daggers and drove off. I'm appalled by the way they went about it altogether. They didn't state its company policy, they just said "yeah you'd have to come in". Now, as a parent I can admit that I struggled sometimes looking after myself as I put all my energy into making sure my son is happy, rested, clean and fed. So drive thru's I highly rely on when I'm on the go to somewhere to grab something to atleast line my stomach.
So let's say Costa does make people come in to pick up their order if they're in a similar situation like me, especially seen as my toddler likes to sleep in the car, as do many. You're saying we'd have to bring our kids in just to grab a bag off the counter and wake them?
*What about disabled or older people who use the drive-thru to remain safe inside their vehicle? Like this time of year its very icy or chucking it down with rain. You'd make them come in?
*What about those who don't like being around others, and use the drive thru for discretion to not cause attention to themselves, you'd make them come in?
These are just a handful of...
Read moreSpent an age queuing in the drive thru, tried to order using speaker, no response. Drove round to window after trying twice to place order, encountered a rude member of staff who told me she couldn't hear me and then attempted to give my order to a male member of staff who rolled his eyes at me at hearing the words Frostino. I ended up asking if they would like me to order inside, which he replied yes. Parked up, had to leave 3 kids in car due to Covid restrictions, queued up again. Got to the server, placed my order, only to be told there was no straws. Never in my life have I showed such restraint. Asked why that couldn't have been conveyed at the drive thru window, more eye rolling ensued so I just left. There is a farm on the A6 towards Westhougton that does ice cream and milkshakes, far better than anything you would ever get at Costa and...
Read moreThis particular COSTA started off quite slowly when first opened. The focus was on the drive-through. It is situated on a 'clean' industrial estate and near a large ALDI supermarket. Now, however, the number of sit-in customers has increased and the coffee shop has a pleasing buzz about it. Be aware, though, that walkers often leave their cars in the smallish car park while they stroll off. On occasion this can mean a restricted number of places available. The staff have been friendly and welcoming on the several occasions we have called in. They are also committed to serving you quickly so that waiting times are relatively short even on busy days. 4 stars overall would be 5 if the car park had a...
