I have been recommended this place a few times so finally got to try it.
Got a mixed grill total cost included delivery 1 mile away was £21.00
The size of mixed grill was tiny for the price. It included the following.
3 lamb chops (1 was ok size, 1 was small and the third was like it was stolen from a premature baby lamb as it was miniscule, my 18 month old toddler stared at it for 5 seconds, shrugged his shoulders and walked off laughing to himself).
The flavour of the lamb was just spice, texture was chewy. I sunk my teeth into the meat and wrestled for a good 30 seconds just to get the meat off the bone. I then chewed and chewed... and chewed. (At this point I asked siri to remind me to book a dentist appointment asap)
Kobeda. Please note if you are used to going to Manchester curry mile for kobedas you are going to be in for a shock when you see this one. Thin, rubbery, short excuse of a kobeda. This was the worst kobeda I have ever tasted. I survived 2 bites of it and now I am hoping I don't end up on the throne all night. The flavour was not there, texture chewy, smell was funky.
Chicken wings. These were the only okish part of the meal as they were saved by the drizzled on hot sauce. Would have been nice if they were hot on arrival but they were again cooled and microwaved as evident by the gooey slimy texture.
Chicken tikka. Flavourless, not even salt. One of the pieces was raw inside which I threw out straight away. It tasted like a raw piece of chicken cooked on flame. Tasteless bland and boring.
Naan bread, soft and great texture but cold and not cooked in the Tandoor.
Sauces Chilli sauce. The same chilli and imli mix that all the local places use( k2 chippy etc) would have been amazing to have tasted a sauce that wasn't prebottled from the cash and carry.
Yogurt sauce. I don't know if this was meant to be some kind of a chutney raita but this was basically plain Yogurt with some chilli powder sprinked on. Like who thought this was nice? Could so easily make a spicy chilli chutney in 5 mins.
Garlic. Again... same old garlic like what every small local kebab shop sells.
All in all a bad experience. The food was obviously cooked earlier on and reheated. Everything tasted like it had been microwaved.
I usually don't like leaving bad reviews but this was so terrible, shocking and confusing.
Is this supposed to be a local kebab shop but with nice decor and restaurant style look? Or is it supposed to be a restaurant style experience? Or is it supposed to be a diner serving restaurant quality food? I don't know...
I just don't get it. I got something I could have easily got from local kebab shop or chippy at double the price. There's nothing that makes this any different, better or more valuable.
Great if you have very low...
Read moreI attended Grillsters Bolton (formally known as Grillaz) on the Monday the 19th September.
Luckily, I called up earlier and asked if they take card was advised cash only.
We arrived 17:34 outside at the establishment we were lucky to find a car parking space on the main road on Derby Street as the side street are not the best for parking BUT you can park further up the road.
We entered and it was semi busy and we ordered:
Steak & Chicken Sizzler with Cheese and Rice Chicken Sizzler with Rice and Chips 6 x BBQ Peri Chicken Wings 2 x drinks (water bottle and Rubicon Mango can)
I can remember to exact total due to the time I posting this but I think it was around £32 area.
Honestly, I thought the cost was going to be around £30 or less but I guess the cost is going up everywhere.
Food took around 20 minutes to arrive.
Alhamdulillah no complaints about the food everything was good, the only thing I did notice was the cheese was white where cheese is normally yellow (I guess they put pizza cheese on the food, wasn’t issue still tasted great).
Service was good the brother who took the order was friendly, I did notice as we were eating and before we left it was getting really busy on deliveries so this place must be good.
The only down side I can think of is the seating upstairs is very tight but I guess that is to maximise on the small space they have for customers to sit down and eat (I have eaten below when the business was called Grillaz and the seating is fine there, so this is not the first time I have been here), also you would struggle to get parking on the main road at busy periods but you could park quite further away or in some...
Read moreLast time I went here (a few years ago) it was called Grillaz, now it's Grillsters, although some of the inside branding still says Grillaz! Anyway, onto the food. We ordered a chicken calzone, veggie pizza, a chicken sizzler and a chicken burger. By and large, the food was fantastic, with the delicious, piping-hot calzone and pizza being worthy of a special mention. The burger was good but, like other burgers I've had, the bun was too small for the filling resulting in everything spilling out and ultimately ending up as a pretty messy eat. I'd perhaps also give the sizzler a miss next time too - hint: the best chicken steak sizzler mix is literally one minute away. I also wasn't too enamoured by the sauces, not even sure what the pink one was?! The restaurant was pretty busy, but service was very quick, friendly staff and parking available down the side street. I did not see any covid safety stuff going on, no masks, no disinfectants, no table and seat cleaning. That aside, highly recommended and...
