I'm changing this original review from a few years back as i feel that things have really slipped on our recent visits. The food is still very good and high quality, however.... You find a table, no one brings a menu, you have to go and find one. Eventually someone will come and take your order, but on our most recent visit i saw people leave before anyone came to even give them a menu. Lots of staff on and not really busy when we visited. Menu is very much reduced to what it was and seemingly almost everything apart from the two mains have cheese on. Even the chicken wrap.(Totally uneccessary) If you don't want bread or cheese it really is difficullt to find something to eat on this menu. Toilets needed a good clean, doors and door handles dirty and sticky. Two drunk females sitting at a table outside. I don't know what's gone wrong as this place was a little gem, worth paying extra for as the food was great, the service and surroundings top notch. Now,not so much. I hope by posting this review, things will change, because this is always the highlight of our visit to St Anne's and has been for a number of years.

Read moreThe Pavilion Cafe is situated beside the war memorial, which depicts St Anne, and is within easy reach of the two main park gates of Ashton Gardens. The gardens are beautifully kept and the Pavillion Cafe is the perfect place to unwind. The food is beautifully cooked and very well presented, and the staff are all very polite and courteous to all members of the public. When I was a child, the Cafe used to be the town's theatre, and hosted many stars from theatre and TV. Sadly it was destroyed by fire whilst I was still a child and the plot reverted to a grassed area for many years. Recently, the Pavilion Cafe as we know it now, was built and has continued the arts theme from the past by hosting music events, private function bookings, and to set all that off, it also plays a part as an Art Gallery and displays local work, some of which are for sale. The Cafe is also licenced if you want food and refreshment away from a normal pub environment. There is a generous children's play area to the side of the building, and also Bowling Greens. This is a venue which is well worth a visit and I suspect you will wish to return. Do...
Read moreA welcoming little café in a lovely garden setting only a couple of minutes walk from the main shopping area. Had a really nice lunch here. Plenty of outside tables for sunny days but I ate inside. The café was very clean, light and spacious with some lovely pictures by local artists exhibited on the walls. The toilet was also clean but very cramped and the hand dryer was not working (the only thing I could fault). You order at the bar and the food is brought to your table. The young waiters were really courteous and attentive and although the meal was freshly made to order I did not have to wait long. Plenty of choice on the menu including breakfasts, sandwiches, burgers and some tempting egg dishes. Prices were very reasonable and there was also a children's menu. Opted for the Eggs Lancashire with bacon and black pudding and some added salad, and it was a really good choice! The food was well cooked, the poached eggs were just right and it was piping hot. Good strong pot of tea that stayed hot till the end of the meal! The park is a beautiful place to enjoy a stroll afterwards. Would...
