Unfortunately would not recommend. We had booked a table here for 9:00am on a Sunday morning. We arrived at 8:50am and said to the waitress we had booked a table for 9am, to which she replied “okay?” and looked at us all blankly as if we’d just ordered a chicken tikka masala in a Chinese restaurant. We then asked if we should just sit anywhere (because the waitress didn’t fancy telling us what was going on), and she replied “yeah just sit anywhere, I’ve not had chance to look at the bookings yet, and we don’t open till 9am”. which was fair enough as we were early but the shop was open. As we were there, customers started coming and going with coffees so I thought they must be serving now so I’ll go up to the counter. I was told to sit down outside and my order will be taken in 5 minutes. It got to 9:15am, we had been there 25 minutes and 5 people had been in and ordered coffees from the counter and had all been served all before anyone came to see us, but we were told we had to wait at our table to order anything. Finally the rude waitress came to take our order and I explained it was a bit annoying we were the first customers there and we were the 6th customer to actually have their order taken. The waitress couldn’t care less and explained she was on her own and the coffee machine stopped working (but could make 5 other orders before ours, after I was told I couldn’t order at the counter and had to wait at the table).
I will say I absolutely do not like writing bad reviews but I was so frustrated by the experience and by the response from the waitress, I feel like I have had to do so.
The food was actually nice but I feel like it was very expensive for what it was. £30 for 2 English breakfasts and 2 coffees is a bit steep in my book unless you are receiving outstanding food and service, which unfortunately we didn’t.
Booking was in my partners name,...
Read moreIt pains me to change this review but my recent experiences here have been extremely disappointing,
2 or 3 weeks ago me and my wife came for food and coffee while visiting St Anne's and towards the end of the meal I overheard (who I believe was the manager or at least he was in charge) talking to an elderly customer and his words still shock me "every Labor voter needs to be lined up and shot" they were clearly discussing their like for reform witch given the circumstances was totally unprofessional, especially the in the setting of No Filter who's walls are adorned with the most famous left wing musicians who we all know would be fighting against the fascist and racist views associated with Reform.
My second visit today with my daughter who is off school cemented me changing my review, I picked my meal and my daughter who is 14 and has a very small appetite was unsure as she literally couldn't eat an adult meal in fact she couldn't eat a kids meal, so she picked a kis meal and I was going to remove an item she didn't want, I then noticed the kids meals are labeled under 10s, (like kids magically become adults at 11) if pushed the server probably would have put it through but I got him to check with the manager who I recognised as I've been coming since the store opened, I suggested I'd pay extra if it was necessary and was hopeful the would just say it's fine, but they were unable to add a surcharge to the bill, so at this point I realised who unreasonable to have an age limit of 10 on a kids meal and leave.
I understand having an age limit on smaller meals to stop adults eating from the kids menu but in this situation it's unreasonable to make us order an adult meal for a child when most of the meal is going to go to waste.
I'm genuinely disappointed in what has become of one of my favourite places to eat...
Read moreI thought the atmosphere was great, it was busy and staff were friendly but I ordered loaded fries with steak and when it arrived it was so fatty I could barely eat it. The steak had been cut into slices but the person slicing it hadn't been able to separate the chunks because it was so very very fatty. It was white unrendered wobbly fat. It was horrible. The cheese was two slices of burger cheese that had been melted on top. It was awful. I was with my friend so I didn't really want to complain and I tried to eat the chips and left all the steak. By the end I took the plate over and showed the waitress why I hadn't eaten any of the meat. The dish was £13 so not exactly the cheapest lunch. She went to speak to the chef and brought me over two loyalty cards with free drinks. I said I was a tourist and didn't want free drinks for next time, I would like a refund. I was told no so I just said I wouldn't be returning. She shrugged and said OK and went off to deal with other customers. It really was awful but I thought the fact they didn't want to apologise and refund the uneaten meal was poor.
Whilst I was sat there the lady behind me complained that there was a long hair in her burger.
Not good I...
