I often pop into my local The Town House for a Seniors Meal at lunch time or before 5pm on a weekday. It's such excellent value for money it's not worth cooking at home or spending electric on doing it yourself. Plus its good to have company! The smaller portions suit me fine and I sometimes add a pudding for £1 if Im feeling like a sweet treat! The food Ive eaten there on the Seniors and main menu has been excellent. During the winter I often.popped there to have a meal and socialise and it also meant I was saving on my electric costs during the cold months. What makes the Town House though are the brill staff including Helen the new manager, Angel, Sylvia and Alex. Sorry I don't know all staff names but you are all fab! As a older retired (mature!!) guy who lost a partner of 25 years and recently moved to Saint Annes I've really appreciated the warm welcome from the team and the friendly banter. Ive met some lovely people there so now have friends. I've seen how the team welcome people with disabilities and reassure a gentleman living with Dementia. The pub has an access ramp to avoid the steps so you can get wheelchairs in, and there are disabled toilet facilities. I notice these things as my late husband was disabled! There is an outdoor seating area and they welcome dogs with well behaved owners! They are also LGBT friendly and host a Seniors LGBT group monthly. I know that Helen the new manager is very keen to put on new events so look out! Thanks to all the team for welcoming me into the Town House family. David PS I use the train quite a bit and the Town House is so close to the station. Very useful if you are waiting for a train or a train is cancelled and the next one is...
Read moreMyself and my partner visited here twice today...both times, we experienced unfriendly staff. It wasn't particularly busy, but our drinks took a long time to come. The second time we came, we wanted to play pool. Some young lads were playing, who weren't wearing masks. As we'd never been to this pub before, we thought that it must be ok not to wear masks while playing pool. When we finally got to play, we were told very abruptly to put our masks on. We don't have a problem with wearing them at all, but the way she asked was rude and uncalled for. I was asked 3 times if I wanted ice in my drink by the same lady..After ordering half a lager, it came and we paid, my partner drank it then the staff member brought another one to the table, insisting that we'd ordered another one which wasn't the case, he was also abrupt and unfriendly. It costs nothing to smile and be polite. Everyone has bad days, but two bad experiences in one day is a bit much. We did complain nicely to another member of staff and was told he would tell the manager when he got in but didn't seem overly bothered by what we had to say. Definitely will not be...
Read moreWent here for the Sunday roast.
Food: The menu in the app wasn't like the card menu at all. Not even 1 of the Sunday roast options were available. Build a burger is a solid option. Value for money and you get a tasty burger. The fish and chips option was a bit of a let down. Fish wasn't crispy and at best lukewarm Steak was very chewy and it looked like a bad cut. The meat had big fatty bits on different sides
Service: We sat down at a table, moved because it was insanely sticky. Then we just settled for it being sticky, since option 2 was a little bit less sticky. There was one server running like crazy. Doing the bar, taking orders (there was quite the queue) and serving drinks. After 20 minutes his female colleague backed him up. Both were very kind, but you could see the stress they were being put under.
Would recommend if you want a affordable burger. Do order via the app and be prepared for a...
