We ate here last night for the first time… Excited that there was a new Mexican restaurant in the area, but with low expectations due to the first review it was given on here. After our experience, we can definitely say that first review was bitter and spiteful and so, SO WRONG! This place is fantastic… A really wonderful addition to the area. The owner, a lovely Californian, introduced himself and told us a little bit about the restaurant… And even gave us a complimentary margarita when he felt the service was a bit slow… Perhaps slow by American standards (always lightening-fast stateside), but absolutely fine for the UK! THE FOOD…..well. This is not your average American Tex-Mex, with a gloopy melted cheese on everything… This is a really high quality level of Mexican food. We ordered guacamole, beef sopes, chicken tostadas, enchiladas verdes, and steak with chimichurri and nopales (cactus leaves). Sometimes when we go out and order a starter and a main course, it is actually just too much food. This was perfect… The portions are European portions, not Tex-Mex American style where you can feed a family of four with just one order. This is beautiful food, excellently prepared by a chef who came from one of London’s top Mexican restaurants in Camden… The attention and care given to each dish was much appreciated by us. Delicious. And those margaritas… We tried the plain margarita… And it was PERFECT. And then we had the watermelon margaritas… Absolutely lovely. We will definitely be going back…. but this is a very small venue, and we are only worried that as it gains popularity, it will be very very hard to get a table. Having previously enjoyed the quality of a take away from this restaurant, we booked a table for 3 on a Thursday evening. The restaurant wasn’t busy on arrival, we sat outside, it was immediately apparent the table hadn’t been cleaned. We had to ask for the table to be wiped and then ask for menus. Whilst this was being done I went to the bar to order drinks & asked for a glass for the beer. The drinks were delivered, but without a glass for the beer, I asked for one, it never came, so I had to go to the bar to ask again. When the glass was delivered, it was hot, straight out of the dishwasher, so I gave up on the glass and drank from the bottle. The waitress came back & we said we were ready to order our meal, halfway through our order, she said she couldn’t remember everything, so had to go back in to get an ipad & we started ordering again. The waitress struggled to answer questions about the food. It took a very long time for our order to be delivered. At one point a male server came out, I asked if he was the manager, he said yes, promptly disappeared and came back with extra corn chips. Portions were small & expensive. The service slow & staff not engaged. At no point were we asked how our meal was. We felt disappointed, the service poor, but not bad enough to complain, in any case, the staff were so disinterested that there seemed little point in trying to complain. Simply Outstanding. 50 feet from Virginia Waters train station! Not sure why there are some posts saying they charge for extra things, didn't get charged for tap water or sour cream. Free chips and salsa were brought to our table.

I chatted up staff and they were so nice. Gave us the best table and we needed it because by the time we left there wasn't any room left in the entire restaurant. Highly recommend making a reservation so you are on the calendar. I used Open Table. Got an early reservation for my girlfriend and her sister for a Birthday celebration and it was simply amazing.

Recommend the chicken tacos, vegetarian potatoes dish and some absolutely incredible margaritas. I started with the watermelon, then tried the mezcal followed by the original Margarita. Much better prices and quality than the ones I found in London a day earlier.

We had such a good time! One of the owners Alvin and head chef actually came out and wished my GF's sister happy bday and brought a little treat! Churros were bomb! 10 of 10! No other options in the area could compete after looking at their menus online. Haven't had good Mexican like this in a long...
