Viceroy of India — Restaurant in Borough of Runnymede

A dreadful evening there, that I had to warn others about. Just the facts, without emotion:

General terrible service: my first drink was not the whiskey I ordered (but I gave them the benefit of the doubt) did not clear our 1st course for a full 28min after we finished when I called the waiter (small bald guy) he put his hand up and rudely said "wait", manager later promised to but it still took some 10min more when serving new plates for mains, same SBG used his bare hands to pick off specks before giving it to us (we sent it back) brought our dish out with chicken rather than lamb - when pointed out they replied "I'd keep it as a new one will take some time now" to be fair they took that dish off the bill themselves, but when I told the manager I would not be paying the service and why, did not acknowledge or apologise and just took payment silently and walked off in reality the place has a bustling takeaway trade that dominates their attention over seated diners

Extra remarks if you are of Indian origin: not authentic food - I totally understand it has to be anglicised for the local community, but this was way more than I'd ever experienced in my 45 years has embarrassing sitcom type staff that pander to their white guests at the expense of you.... The Spice nearer the station, although not great, is better...

I visit this restaurant every now and again, and everytime I visit I'm never left dissapointed. Interior is a nice, chilled comfortable environment. The waiters are friendly and polite and quick to making your needs met. Food is delicious could easily go for a second or third helping but the first will always fill you up. Great spices and seasoning used you'll never be left dissapointed. Overall, excellent service and excellent food. P.s. they offer free delivery too to nearby areas of you're feeling a little bit lazy, the food will still come...

The restaurant, running from decades now, has a very nice ambience. Being an Indian myself, I would have preferred a little spicier food, but I assume it has been customised to the local taste. The breads could have been better. The staff was really hospitable and very attentive - that's my reason of adding one star. The presentation was nice..with food dishes served on a stand with candles, to keep it warm. Price wise the place is reasonable with regards to other places in...
