Very disappointing - date night ruined.

The food was good but the service was very poor. They got our order wrong - there are two chicken dishes on the menu. One is on the fixed menu which isn’t priced individually and we didn’t consider ordering from, the other on the a la carte which we ordered from. When we queried the mistake, we were told it would take 45 mins to cook the right order and the kitchen closed in 10 mins. No apology or acceptance of the misunderstanding. When we received the bill, we’d hoped they’d have acknowledged the error however, they charged us £18 (the same price for a two chicken thigh dish from the set menu which wasn’t individually priced as a whole Poussin that we’d ordered) when the full fixed menu was £29.50 which included a starter, main, desert and glass of Prosecco. Just seems off. We cancelled a table at another local restaurant to eat and drink there because the menu looked inviting, and Sonny encouraged us to explore the menu and consider joining as members to receive reduced prices in the future. As a first time experience it was very poor and did not represent value for money as the management do not seem to know their own menu or how to handle a genuine issue.

This is further reflected in the disgusting response they posted to this honest review originally posted on Tripadvisor. It is accusatory and filled with lies about our behaviour in their restaurant to cover their own inadequacies. We were never rude, we simply said we would not be returning.

Never have I read such a vitriolic and unprofessional response to a review however, I’m not surprised and it just goes to show the lack of class present at this establishment. We arrived around lunch time with nobody sitting outside and were initially greeted by friendly staff. As we were exhausted we put our bikes close to us leaning against a sign, away from the doors, walls and windows of the restaurant, not disturbing anything or anyone. When the owner arrived to give us the menus he started to rudely and condescendingly tell us not to put them there as it blocks the access and disturbs other people. The owner clearly has preconceived notions about people who choose to cycle given his tone and had absolutely no understanding. Great place to pop in for a coffee and hold meeting friends and colleagues. Always warm welcome, lovely seating and ambience. I find there is a nice mix of customers and good chatty atmosphere.

I find their food excellent, some of it is top end on the value for money scale and some is just delicious for any money.

Selection of wines, as you can imagine is great and staff are knowledgeable.
