The payment for our bill was processed twice.

My family were aware the transaction had been charged incorrectly twice, the cafe card device had displayed this status to them and they had tried to tell the cafe staff prior to the second debit. Additionally my phone app had also alerted me to two identical transactions being processed consecutively by the cafe.

I spoke to the female staff member in relation to this, I showed her my banking account with the debits listed, she advised me that the debit transactions were pending in my account and therefore hadn't been processed. I explained all transactions were displayed like this for 2-3 days on my account and to reach me account the cafe machine must have processed the transaction. She initially refused to accept this, and with all the charm of a threatened rattle snake, explained the transactions were pending one would be cancelled and this happened all the time. With the tediousness of a seaside pantomime the conversation went on, the employee insisting I was wrong and, I rather more politely but resolutely insisting they had charged me twice.

After some time and conversations with absent management I was begrudgingly refunded for one transaction. I was advised to send back the money when I realised I was wrong. The employee wanted to record my name and surname which I was happy to provide. No apology was offered.

Of course I wasn't wrong. Both the original debits processed, I had been charged twice.

I fear I won't return. The vegan brownie was nice but the coffee was luke warm and so strong it left me feeling quite sick as did the attitude of female...

This place is a little gem. Not only is it a great place to sit and have a coffee or a bite to eat but they do boat hire too. We hired a very smart boat yesterday which comfortably seated six of us (and our dog) and, despite being complete novices, we successfully navigated our way through the locks to Hampton Court after having been well briefed by the very friendly owners. This beautiful little cafe on the river also does day boat hire is in the perfect location. The breakfast rolls coffee and froze are lovely as are the brownies! We hired a day boat for two hours to celebrate our dads birthday we also had three dogs! It made his birthday the hand over and instructions on how to handle the boat and the rules of the river were really good. I highly recommend both the cafe and the day boat...
