Great coffee, but a missed opportunity for foodies.
This café, perched on a prime spot by the Thames walking trails, offers a location that’s hard to beat. With stunning views and easy access, it’s an ideal place to pause during a riverside walk. The coffee? Genuinely good—rich, flavorful, and clearly made with care. Also, the service was good. Unfortunately, that’s where the praise ends.
The sandwiches are a culinary mystery—tasteless, uninspired, and bordering on inedible. It’s as if the kitchen put more effort into avoiding flavor than embracing it. With such a prime location, it’s baffling that the food doesn’t even try to match the quality of the drinks or the view. We could not finish the sandwiches and had to dispose of them which was upsetting as they were not cheap.
To their credit, they do offer a variety of vegetarian options, and the baked goods may be worth a try if you’re feeling adventurous.
The one unexpected perk? The free toilets, which are accessible to anyone and likely the most appreciated part of the visit for passing walkers.
In short: come for the coffee, maybe the baked goods, and...
Read moreI ordered a cappuccino (which the lady even asked if I wanted with chocolate) and an americano with oat milk. We waited for a long time and saw 2 people that ordered after us being served first. There were 5 employees and just one making coffee (which was the only thing going at the moment). The americano arrived but the cappuccino never did. A young employee came to ask me if I was waiting for something else and I said yes and at this point the lady looked at me and I said I ordered just one and she charged me only one (at £3,60 I kind doubt that). The young guy asked for my name or the receipt and I said I was never asked for my name or given a receipt. He said he was going to do my coffee, but at that point I was just tired or waiting and of the terrible service and walked away. None of the employees were wearing masks. The young guy was nice and tried, but the woman that charged me was just plain rude from the moment she charged till the moment she implied I was lying....
Read moreWe arrived about 1:30pm (ish) and wanted something hot that was easy to walk with; our only options being 1 small sausage roll or a slightly larger one that had caramelized onions on it, all the cornish pasties had sold out. We went with the larger sausage roll and while it was delicious, at £3.50, it felt a bit rich. I paid using tap and go, so you don't need cash. They offer quite a few main meals which surprised me - someone was getting some fish and chips while we were lining up. We also got 2 muffins at £2.60 each but they were massive and delicious. We didn't get any hot drinks. It's the middle of winter in a pandemic so that might be why there was no seating but there are one or 2 fixed picnic tables nearby. All in all, I'm glad they were there because it was freezing cold and we were really hungry for something hot but I wouldn't call it value for money if you're counting...
