Decades Retro Cafe Bar — Restaurant in Borough of Wyre

We went for breakfast for the second time this weekend. First time was a while ago and really bad experience, but thought we'd give it another go. Ordered flat white, to be told they don't do that despite it being on the menu... and that it's an 'old menu', asked for a latte machiatto with almond milk- sorry can't do that as it's from the machine. Ordered American pancakes, don't have them. Scrambled eggs on toast? Sure... smallest amount of eggs so had to request more, which took 15 minutes. 15 MINUTES?!

Whilst waiting to order, a ketchup bottle exploded on a nearby table, completely covering me and my partner (white t-shirt... totally ruined), straight into a woman's eye, and all over tables and chairs. They then admit that this keeps happening.... yet they've kept the ketchup bottles on the table! No apology to us stood at the till covered in ketchup. Obviously we're aware that staff didn't do this, however there was not even an acknowledgement, apart from the woman taking our order who shouted to a customer that she didn't know how the woman with ketchup in her eye was, because 'she hadn't managed to get away from here yet'. Here being the till, where we were placing an order of £40 odd!

Mocha coffee arrives cold, asked for a hot one, coffee nuked in the microwave. The waitress then spilled it over the table and promised extra napkins.... which she didn't bring.

My eggs royal came whilst customers cleaned up the ketchup, and my breakfast was covered with pesto, and balsamic vinegar.... why on earth?! The breakfast was actually OK, save for the very odd addition, which I had to wipe away with a coffee covered napkin.

This is our 2nd trip and 2nd bad experience. We are not seeing what others claim to be great service, and certainly will not...

This was our second time eating here, with the first experience being fantastic! Today's visit was beyond shocking, with servers who isolated us from the second we sat down. Everyone else was served at their table and was able to pay after they had eaten, but we were made to go up to the bar and pay before we got any food or drinks, which was after we had already waited 10-15 minutes with staff walking past us at least a dozen times. There was a dog that dog better service from the two extremely rude tennage staff members, which was shocking!

The food was nothing like our first experience, it was very well below average. I had the hunter's chicken brunch bowl; Chicken was too dry and flavourless, with the overall dish not worth the price. My partner had the honey chilli wrap which was acceptable, but hard to enjoy with the horrible atmosphere from the staff.

Not one staff member asked us how our meals were or if they could get us anything else, but did with every single person in the place. It was shocking to see the staff members allowed to treat us this was when we had done nothing but be nice and want to spend our money is this establishment. We also asked for a card reciept when we left and they were unable to provide this, which was strange. We did not want one in the begining when we had to go up to the bar to pay, but wanted to check if they ignorant tennager had charged us the correct amount.

I would have expected the service to be not perfect if the place was rushed, but it was half empty, so there was no excuse for the level of service we...

Tried Decades for the first time last night (Thursday) and had a really great evening.

The food was amazing, I ordered the "moules frittes". Super fresh, great portion, amazing price. My friend ordered "stuffed chicken" which was equally as nice, well presented and great portion size. Seen some other reviews whereby wait time has been a problem - this isn't weather-spoons where they get a pre made lump of food and microwave it in 2 minutes, the food is cooked fresh, there is attention to detail with presentation and it tastes great! We did not find wait time to be a problem especially when we tasted the food.

Service was great. Really good music playing, not too loud or too quiet. You walk in sit where you like and service was quick even though it was packed out in the front. Really friendly staff and manager who kindly showed us the cocktail bar upstairs which looks great. Have a really good choice of cocktails (again made fresh) and they also offer live music on weekends. Can't wait to come back 👍🏼
