The Coffee Box & Bistro — Restaurant in Borough of Wyre

Really wanted to like this place as the food and drinks looked good but I left with a sour taste in my mouth. I’ve been a vegetarian for more than 30 years and I fancied something simple like cheese on toast. On the menu, there are a couple of things with a ‘v’ next to them but the cheese on toast doesn’t , so I asked at the counter if it was suitable for vegetarians. The young lady looked wide-eyed and said something along the lines of, “I would expect so, because it’s just cheese… and toast…” I’ve never lectured anyone on my dietary choice and I didn’t think I was going to start today so I simply replied that some cheese isn’t vegetarian (never mind the fact that some butter isn’t and even some bread too but I didn’t want to get carted away to a loony bin just by saying so to people who don’t care to understand). She asked another member of staff, an older lady, if it was suitable and this lady looked at me like I was an alien from another planet and also said something like, “Well, I would imagine so, because it’s cheese on toast?” So instead of educating anyone at the time (which I’m having to do now because it spoiled an otherwise lovely day), I said that I needed to know for sure… so with a frown on her face, she went in the kitchen and then came out and, still frowning as if I’d asked if the moon was made of vegetarian cheese, said it was. I didn’t feel at all welcome at your cafe because of this. If your staff could be asked to treat all customers with the respect they deserve, that would be great, even if they have simple dietary requirements that the staff may...

I came here for the first time in September and enjoyed it. However on my 2nd vist I was rather disappointed. Aside from having a more noisy atmosphere, there was very few cakes left. And they had no almond milk left so i asked for a black coffee topped with hot water, but when it arrived no hot water jad been added as there was still a large gap in the coffee in the cup . I also had to wait 10mins just for said coffee. It also took about 2 minutes for a staff member to take my order at the till when I was next in line. So not very impressed on my 2nd visit to...

Great little place. Ideal for a drinks pit stop or food. Great choice of hot and cold drinks and brunch; sandwiches; cake and cookies etc. Nice outdoor areas at the front and the back too which is a great idea. Service good and all staff polite. Clean and tidy and staff quick to clean tables when vacated.(Just a shame a young girl serving was criticised in front of customers. Surely this is a training issue and not the girls fault.)
