To start with the positives, the restaurant looks the part and the seating, cutlery, napkins and all the trimmings are really high end, and the place feels special... Plus, the garlic bread is absolutely beautiful. Best I've had. Now, time for the bad bits... But, I will say, in fairness, that we were refunded the cost of the lasagnas (which was a class move and means I'd give them the benefit of the doubt and visit again in the future once they're more settled). It took a good 15 minutes to be given menus. Eventually had to ask. Despite the restaurant being mostly empty. Lasagna was cold in the middle (and very bland with very little sauce). Plus, the food took a really long time to come out (which is totally fair for fresh cooked food, but difficult to understand when the lasagna was obviously reheated). I would never normally say anything about cold food as it's just too embarrassing, but it became pretty much inedible as we got closer to the centre, so we asked that the lasagnas were popped in the microwave to be heated back up (they did offer to give new ones, but we didn't have the time to wait). They did this for us without any fuss. Next, the toilet was really very grim and smelly. Plus, soap dispenser didn't work. Maybe not important to some people, but it was off-putting. Following the meal, we weren't offered desert menus, and even when we got the wait staff's attention, we weren't offered any - instead, we were just offered the bill (we ended up getting McFlurries instead). There were three wait staff on, and three tables running, but service was still very slow and lacked attention. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for giving a new restaurant the benefit of the doubt, and I know there are teething issues at the start of anything new, but when you're paying £14 for a lasagna and £19 for a bottle of wine, I think it's only reasonable to expect something a little better than Wetherpoons. I feel a bit guilty leaving a negative review, as they did refund the lasagnas, but it isn't cheap going out, and I think it's only fair to give others a heads up (even with those refunded it was still £75 between 3 of us without puddings). Maybe they'd be better doing a few more discounted nights until they're a bit better on the food...
Read moreI visited Vincenzo’s around midday when it wasn’t particularly busy, yet the service was still quite slow. Unfortunately, the food was also disappointing. The ravioli starter arrived half-cooked and partly cold, which was surprising, especially since I would expect a long wait only if they were freshly handmade.
For the main, I ordered a ribeye steak with peppercorn sauce. The steak itself had no fat at all – more like a rump cut than ribeye – and the sauce was poured over the entire steak with so much pepper that it was almost inedible. I had to spread it around just to manage. On the positive side, the steak was cooked exactly to medium as I requested.
The steak came with chips according to the menu, but when the bill arrived, the chips were charged separately. I had to point this out to the waiter to have it corrected. The waitresses also seemed unsure of their roles, which added to the overall lack of confidence in service.
Overall, it was a very unfortunate experience, and I don’t think we’ll...
Read moreMe and my boyfriend went for an evening meal and it was amazing. We got there 30mins early and the guy who owns the restaurant, sorry I can't remember his name but he was lovely, he told us to go to his cocktail bar (George's)which is just around the corner and we got 2 cocktails which he kindly gave us 10% off until our table was ready. When we got our food we had to wait 1 HR which was a long time, whoever we got 2 glasses of wine complimentary on the house and the food tasty really good, It was a great atmosphere in the restaurant and all the staff was polite and friendly, and staff kept coming over and seeing if we needed anything else which was nice. Just an overall amazing night...
