We have visited before and the food was good for the cost. However the menu might as well serve as nothing but a table decoration and a recent visit ordering from the menu left a bad taste in the mouth. Attending at 12 o’clock on a Friday we thought the foot traffic wouldn’t be excessive. As there was no table service seating we were asked to order at the bar which we didn’t have an issue with. After ordering a refill drink, I asked the bar tender if refills were at the bar or from the machine and told to use the machine and ‘it isn’t much to ask for the cost’ which seemed a little passive aggressive but I let it pass as maybe a misunderstanding. I had only asked where to get refills from but maybe he was having a bad day. We proceeded to wait over half an hour with no indication that our food would arrive. I enquired if there was an idea of waiting time was told I would just ‘have to wait’. Again this felt needlessly passive aggressive as I don’t think asking for an estimate is unreasonable and I wasn’t demanding immediate service just an estimate to set expectations. After 50 minutes we were told ours was ‘next in line’. After a further 20 minutes waiting we finally gave up as our food was clearly not coming. So we requested a refund and left. So can’t actually review the food as after waiting an hour and 20 min, we had to give up and go elsewhere. Full credit to the lady who refunded our order. She was very polite, understanding and refunded without any fuss. Lesson learnt, never order off menu. Just get in line and queue for carvery. Just as...
Read moreMy friend and I booked a table for 2 for 5 p.m. We were met by a friendly staff who led us to our table. It was surprisingly very quiet for a Saturday dinner. However, we were left unattended for quite some time until we called a staff over to let him know that we would like to order our meals. I ordered a ratatouille tart and I wast it will take 7 minutes while my friend helped herself to a carvery. When she came back to the table with her food she commented that the food selections were not very inspiring and they looked like they've been sitting there for a whole week! So, when it was my turn to help myself to the vegetables I was shocked at the poor quality they looked. Burnt and old looking roast potatoes, I couldn't make out what the other dish was but I was told it was a stuffing. It had gone grey and crusty on top. Boiled peas were going brown and shrivelled up, their "famous" gravy was watery and seriously lacked flavour and like the others, they lookedlike they've beensitting there for days. My friend told me she was given a couple of turkey slices which was hard and chewy. We both couldn't cut through the roast potatoes and the mashed potatoes was also tasteless. How an earth can anyone make a tasteless mashed potatoes, I can't get my head around it. There was a boiled shredded cabbage which was over cooked. Our meals were absolutely tasteless. Staff came round to ask how our meals were. We were very honest and told them our disappointment. We spoke to the manager who didn't show much interest. ...

OK i dont know who's responsibility the access road is but a warning sign would be nice and if not your responsibility put some pressure on whoever to fix. Again car park has another massive pot hole but at least its obvious.
So restaurant food itself. Positives and im clutching here. Pepsi tastes like Pepsi. Yorkshire puddings were quite nice. Meat wasnt terrible but you dont get much. Brownie with icecream my youngest said was lovely.
Youngest daughter wanted sausage and some gammon but no. If u have sausages cant have any other meat. But can have 4 sausages. Ok whatever.
Veg omg. Ive never had worse. Roasts where all solid. And yes we tried to take the better ones but so over cooked it was crazy. Rest of Veg also all so overcooked it was all limp and tastless.
Personally i had some gammon and a yorkshire pudding for my dinner. Youngest had some sausages and a yorkshire then a plate of peas as she wouldnt eat rest of veg (which she normally likes). Wife said hers was horrible but ate it out of principle lol. Eldest daughter left a lot of hers saying not nice. She would normally want veg seconds.
To put this review into context yes we have caveries at other chain pubs and they r not always the best but usually a solid 4/5. Not this bad.
We also eat at wetherspoons fairly often and whilst we would never say the food it amazing for the...
