Sent from my iPad||||Begin forwarded message:||||From: Maureen Simpson ||Date: 27 December 2023 at 14:52:32 GMT||To: russellsimpson@hotmail.co.uk||Subject: Kings Head Hotel 42 Norwich Street||||Have just experienced the worst hotel experience in my life - the above hotel in Dereham is a place I would not even take a homeless person to for the night||I am 75 years old and travelled to Dereham Boxing Day from Essex to spend the day with Family||I booked two rooms for myself wife and another for my Son and we got to the hotel at 9pm after booking in at 2pm and then traveling to family - when we entered the hallway by the rooms the walls were disgusting, crumbling paint, absolutely awful -||Our Son entered his room spiders on the walls, broken curtain rail, shower broken, rusty bin in bathroom, sink rusty around the plug rim and filthy conditions, the bed was crumpled up and he therefore laid on top of the bed in his clothes, towels were like cardboard -||Our room was similar but with creeky floors and filthy chair and carpet||I paid £170 for these rooms and I want my money back||None of us slept and when we came down to breakfast a young man (presumably a worker) said nobody is here as we did not complete the forms for breakfast and take it down the night before - none of this was mentioned by staff on booking in at 2pm||We found the slip in the morning||I have attached photos below of our rooms and the hallway from which it is evident they do not have health and safety nor trading standards as if they did I feel sure the place would be closed straight away||I expect a rapjd response or I shall make this complaint public and legally||||Russell and Maureen Simpson||image0.jpegimage1.jpegimage2.jpegimage3.jpegimage4.jpegimage5.jpegimage6.jpegimage7.jpegimage8.jpegimage9.jpegimage10.jpeg||||image11.jpegimage12.jpegimage13.jpegimage14.jpegimage15.jpeg||Sent...

Check in: ||We had booked three rooms for our one night stay as we were having a memorial at the pub that day. We we're told that our room was available from 12:30, we were not given the keys to the final room until 14:30. Not very helpful when the memorial started at 15:00. ||The room: ||Our room was horrible. Considering we had waited 2 hours for our room we had expected that it would at least be clean! However, the bins had not been emptied, the shower had hairs in, the shower curtain was yellow and the sink was dirty. We think that the only thing that had been changed was the bed sheets (we hope they had been anyway!). The bed was hard and uncomfortable and the old style windows did not close properly. We are not fussy, as long as a room is clean we are generally happy, however this hotel did not even meet that expectation. ||The memorial: ||The food for the memorial were standard picky bits which were nice.||The evening: ||The pub had a live singer for the Saturday night, the singer was very talented so we had a great night. However we also had older relatives with us who were unable to sleep due to the inadequate sound proofing to the bar. ||Breakfast: ||When we checked into our rooms we were given breakfast sheets so we could inform the kitchen what we wanted. However, when we came down to breakfast we were informed there was only enough bacon for two of our party because it had not been defrosted! We were shocked to say the least. As for the rest of the breakfast, the mushrooms were rubbery, the tomatoes were not cooked, the beans were cold and the sausages were inedible. ||The staff: ||Although the staff were nice, it seemed as if they majorly lacked direction and management.
