We went out in Dereham last night and came across a heavily intoxicated female (by herself), she appeared to us to have possibly taken something or had been spiked. She was extremely vulnerable as she had no one with her, could barely walk or communicate and stumbling into traffic. We couldn’t leave her as no one else was offering to help. We tried emergency services however due to current pressures the response was terrible. We were expected to wait 4 hours with her in the freezing cold and rain for an ambulance baring in mind she was a complete stranger to us. We didn’t know her address so could not take her home even though we had support from a taxi driver. Our last resort was that someone agreed to stay with her in a hotel until ambulance/ police arrived. The closest place was Romany Rye, we explained the circumstances, and wanted to pay for a room but were met with the shift manager who was working last night; he completely disregarded the women’s safety. He was rude, disrespectful and looked at her in disgust and showed no sympathy what so ever before getting security to ensure we left. This particular member of staff should be ashamed, and their supervisor should consider whether this is the sort of person they would want to work at their establishment. We fully accept that it may have been company policy not to allow her in but the way it was handled was completely unacceptable. We managed to flag down a taxi driver who took us to the local police station which was closed, so we had to wait another two hours in the rain for an ambulance. During this time her health was deteriorating as she was freezing cold, soaking wet from the heavy rain, and so we’re we. We are not looking for praise but ultimately some people need to do better - imagine if this was your daughter, sister, wife...
Read moreVery disappointed with our food order. Mistakes happen, but it's how they deal with them that matters.
One of our group found a hair on top of their Pizza, they pushed that piece aside and decided to carry on, only to find another hair within the dough. This was enough to put them off eating any more. We reported it to a server, who was initially polite, although when the lady who ordered the Pizza said she was unsure if she wanted a replacement, the server just walked off, leaving the plate in the table.
We expected her to come back with the manager, to offer a solution but after around fifteen minutes had passed, we decided to inform a second server, of the problem. This server was rather rude, and exclained that a lot of the Pizza had been eaten already, and didn't think they could do anything but would ask her manager. (It wouldn't matter if it was the very last piece, the complaint would be the same, the hair was cleary sitting inside the Pizza dough baked within it, a bit of Russian Roulette when you would come across it) They refused to replace the Pizza, but begrudgingly offered to cook a smaller one, but most importantly made no apology and made us feel we were in the wrong. We did get a refund, but not given with any grace, or appology.
Surely it doesn't matter at what point, you see a fault, or contaminate within a meal.
Also on a side note the ceiling was splattered with mouldy food above the table just hanging waiting to fall, which we reported a few months ago, and remains the same.
You tend to know what to expect when you visit a Spoons, I have relatively low expectations, but at least deal with hygiene and food complaints in a professional way. Staff and management...
