I went there for Sunday lunch with my family for Mother’s Day, there were 6 of us in total. On arrival, there was a bit of debate as to which table was ours. We were then all huddled at the bar ordering our drinks instead of being sat at our table and a drink order taken. We then had to wait a good few minutes before anyone came to the table to explain anything and had to order our Yorkshire puddings in advance so they could be reheated. We were then guided to a hatch where we were asked how many potatoes we wanted and which meat etc. Overall, the food was okay but certainly nothing special. There were only two vegetable choices. The major grievance I have was over the price. £30 per head for two courses was way, way too expensive. I feel like we were exploited because it was Mother’s Day and because we weren’t local. In my opinion this should have been £15 per head or £20 at the very most. I wouldn’t have minded if the experience would have represented value for money, but it really didn’t. I would be very interested to hear if this is the normal price per head, because if it is, the locals (that we were reminded so much about and how we were made to feel that we were treading on the toes of) are being ripped...
Read moreMy husband and I went for a Sunday carvery while on honeymoon in the area. We rang up to check there was space for us only about 45 mins ahead I think and we told them about our allergies which they said was fine. When we arrived we parked in the industrial estate car park next door. The staff were very polite and friendly and checked with us about our allergies to make sure what they gave us was ok. The chef even went and made us our own gravy. The whole place seemed very clean and smelt nice. The atmosphere was nice, there was a couple of other groups already there that seemed to be enjoying a very good looking pavlova...I digress...we got shown to the carvery and were given very decent portions of meat and some very tasty home made roast potatoes and helped ourselves to veg. The chef also came and checked on us to make sure everything was ok. It was all very nicely cooked and after that we were definitely full and just got some coffee after before paying and heading off....
Read moreThe station bar is a dark horse. Looks can be deceiving, from the outside it looks like any other bar serving food but on entering this establishment it's like walking into a real quality restaurant. We were greeted by very polite and friendly staff and after a short time we were directed to our table that was very well presented. Now the food is exquisite in every sense of the word and if the station bar is a local thing then it's indeed one of swaffhams best kept secrets. Thank you for and amazing meal and...
