First off, we were a group of 40, so we weren't expecting piping hot food all at the same time. The restaurant looks very nice when you walk in, small but homely and the staff are very lovely too. Just a few issues though.
We had all pre-ordered our food weeks in advance so there was no confusion or stress because of the size of our group, so nobody was allowed to change their mind which is fine. One of our ladies ordered the fillet steak which was cooked perfectly but it came with nothing only swimming in a bowl of peppercorn sauce, which was not the best sauce. She asked the waitress if anything came with her £19 steak, a bit of salad or chips or bread, anything. The waitress apologized and said no sorry, it you wanted salad or chips you would've had to order it separately. So all she had was a normal sized steak and a tonne of sauce. Well when it came to the end of the meal and we were all paying it turns out the lady did order chips etc even after she asked the waitress if anything else was coming out for her. All the ladies who had a steak all were shocked that not even a bit of greenery came for that price which was, minus the chips that never showed, about £16. To make it worse, the lady with us got given some bread by one of our other ladies to dip in the sauce because she was hungry and we couldn't add on to our order. So mid-dip in the sauce, the waiter took the plate away from our lady, she was not impressed as she was clearly still eating it and when she said to the waiter I'm eating that he said I'm sorry usually when the knife and fork are together it means you're done with it...
My own main meal was prawns in a lemon, garlic and white wine sauce. The prawns were quite overcooked and the sauce just tasted like lemon, nothing else. I did not feel like it was good value for money as I paid about £8 for 7 prawns about the size of a king prawn.
Everyone who ordered their pizza said it was absolutely amazing and I did try my friend's pizza. It really was fantastic, about a tenner, definitely worth the money!
The pasta dishes were also very lovely an no complaints from any of those!
The toilets were absolutely disgusting, dirty surfaces, toilet seats were horrendous. I really wish I took a picture to attach to this post.
Overall I don't think we will be going back anytime soon,...
Read moreWe've been to Di Meo a few times and always enjoyed the family run atmosphere and great food but unfortunately our most recent trip had put us off for life. After finding a hair in my pizza (baked into the crust and protruding out) I discretely showed the owner who just chuckled and suggested it was probably just a fibre from a brush, as if finding something they use to clean surfaces in my food was meant to make it better! I wasn't offered a replacement pizza and no discount was applied to the bill which was rather surprising. When confronted about this the owner was very argumentative and made the whole table very uncomfortable, in the end I left with a slight discount but not without having to argue.
Such a shame because the food is always good and we would have loved to...
Read moreCannot recommend Di Meo enough! We booked the whole restaurant out for my 30th birthday celebrations (40 people dining) and it was just the most wonderful afternoon. Great food, warm friendly service and nothing was too much trouble for the staff in the run up or on the day! Most of my guests complimented the food and the whole restaurant experience with high praise. The Di Meo team even decorated the restaurant with birthday banners for us too!
Thank you so much for making my birthday so special. Can't recommend Di Meo enough for anyone celebrating a special occasion with...
