Having been drinking in this pub since moving to Bristol in 1995 this has been a go to place for sports for many years. With the reincarnations over the years the focus has remained the same. Sports and being student focused but does attract a wide range of society.

The last one seeing themed days with regards to food and gives a wide and varied selection to suit all food eaters.

The staff are friendly and the landlord Steve and deputy manager Charlie very engaging making you feel welcome rather than just another person through the door. When you walk through a pub door and the glass is already to pour your pint is the icing on the cake of feeling appreciated as more than just a customer.

The loyalty More card scheme further increases the value for money that pub offers on food and drink.

Can't praise the efforts the manager and staff go to to make visiting The Anchor a good experience on every visit.

Highly recommend popping in for a pint, some food a game of pool and watching sports on the multitude of screens dotted all around the pub as wil as front and rear beer gardens on those rare days the...

An Absolute Gem of a Pub – A True Hidden Treasure!

I don’t usually write reviews, but this place deserves a shoutout. From the moment we walked in, we were welcomed like old friends. The atmosphere is warm, inviting, and full of character – the kind of place where time slows down and laughter fills the air.

The staff? Absolutely top-tier. Friendly, attentive, and genuinely passionate about creating a great experience. They even offered us free pool – which turned our casual night into one of the most memorable evenings we’ve had in ages.

The drinks were spot on, the crowd was buzzing with good vibes, and the whole place had that rare magic that makes you want to stay just a little longer… and then another round later, you're still smiling.

If you're looking for somewhere with heart, charm, and the kind of hospitality that makes you feel like you belong – this is the pub. We’ll definitely be back (and...

I went here for lunch today with my son and couldn't have wished for a better experience. The chap behind the bar was very friendly. We ordered our food and drink... I had southern fried chicken wrap and a (very) large hot chocolate and my son had the veggie all day breakfast and a pint of diet coke. There was some sort of lunch deal on and it came to around ÂŁ14.60 which I thought was good. The food came out in roughly ten minutes and was amazing! There was a relaxed atmosphere here with soft music playing. Thete are various tv screens around showing sport but no volume. We had nearly opted for one of the trendy coffee shops down the Gloucester road but I'm so glad we decided on here. I'll definately go back. I'd like to try some of the big choice of ciders there too at some point. I was particularly impressed that they have a no straw rule reducing.plastic waste too. See my...

Disappointing experience today. First time eating here and it was not good. We ordered 2 wraps but when the food arrived we were told they ran out of wraps so they had used sub rolls instead. We weren’t asked whether this was okay, or if we wanted the sourdough subs as an alternative, but seeing as the food was already brought to us we said it was fine. The sub rolls were completely stale and practically inedible, it was actually laughable. Really unsure how the chef didn’t notice this. Chicken was overdone, and the chips were way over salted too. The waitress was lovely and did ask whether we wanted the food to be remade but we were starving and honestly couldn’t see the point when it would probably happen again. Would I eat here again? No. Would I still come in for a drink? Yes.

Came for bottomless brunch on a bank holiday Sunday and could not fault it. One of my party was about half hour late and the waitress very kindly didn’t start the 2hour brunch until everyone had arrived so we didn’t miss out! I had nachos which was a sizeable portion. Plenty of choice on the menu so something for everyone. Drinks were not juiced down at all and again lots of choice. For £35 each I really could not find any fault and will be recommending for bottomless brunch!
