Her Majesty's Secret Service (HMSS) is a stunning cocktail bar that offers an unforgettable experience. Located in the heart of Whiteladies Road - Bristol, just next to the Clifton train station, this bar is perfect for anyone looking for a fun night out with friends or a romantic evening with a loved one. Upon entering HMSS, you are transported into a different world. The décor is reminiscent of a 1950s British spy film, complete with dark wooden panels, vintage furniture, and dim lighting. The attention to detail is impressive. Would advise perhaps booking in advance, as the space is popular, if not, you can still try and ask if there's some space available. The bar menu is just as impressive as the decor. The cocktail list is extensive and features unique and inventive drinks. The friendly bartenders are skilled and passionate, creating cocktails that not only look incredible but taste delicious, with attention to allergies. Whether you're in the mood for a classic Martini or a more adventurous concoction, HMSS has something for everyone. Overall, Her Majesty's Secret Service is a must-visit for cocktail lovers. The ambience is unique, the drinks are creative and delicious, and the service is excellent. It's no wonder this bar has become so popular!

What a great night out we had in HMSS. From the outside, this place is very non-descript and quite easy to pass by however, open the door and enter this magical little bar via the red telephone box. Once inside you immediately sense the great ‘moody’ atmosphere of this place which is created by the people, decor, staff and music. Surrounded by a collection of artefacts from the past and huge painting of Churchill overlooking the room you are quickly greeted by the superb staff and handed the renowned red cocktail book. There are some great cocktails in the book that are not typically found elsewhere but if these are not for you, the skilled team can rustle up most other drinks of choice. Out party of 5 stayed for around 3 hours and worked our way through the drinks menu whilst playing cards, Jenga and generally enjoying the evening in this great place. If you want something a bit different from the norm the HMSS is a must to try. I’m sure you won’t be disappointed.

Great cocktails and great service. They make the cutest themed cocktails but can also make anything you want off the menu. I had a great Negroni. My partner got a cocktail with a roasted marshmallow and it was delicious. We walked in without a reservation and waited maybe a few minutes before a table opened up. However, if you are more than two people the wait may be longer. I didn’t see anyone having to wait more than 10 minutes. I would suggest if you are a larger party to make a reservation. Edit: went back and had the most amazing drink with ice lollies - can’t remember the name but it’s a must.

I've been to HMSS on Saturday with some friends to celebrate my birthday. The atmosphere was lovely. There is a real authentic concept behind this place, all details are thought with care and executed to the highest standards. You can see that from the cocktails menu, all drinks are drawn to give you an idea of what they will look like - and they look exactly like that! I loved the graph at the end of the menu, showing how sour or sweet each drink is, to help you pick the perfect one for you. A drink was called something like "the scout's XXX" had a little surprise in it (a riddle and streamers) which made it feel extra special! All my friends really loved the place and drinks and kept telling me how cool it was. With no doubt what made everything better was Mike's service, he was fantastic. He frequently checked on us to ensure we had enough drinks and to check we liked everything. His service was impeccable! I'm so glad I choose HMSS for this occasion, I will definitely go back and also suggest to other friends too! Keep doing what...

Now this is tricky....but in time honoured tradition, I'll start with the not so good points: the squashed in seating and constant flow of people trying to get in and out of this small bar is bit of a pain. And I'm afraid the drinks didn't deliver on taste or quantity - mine was mostly crushed ice and so was my girlfriends. I was hoping this place would be hard to find and hard to get in, but neither was true...but these aren't really a biggy! In the end, I had to go for 3 stars, because the drinks didn't quite make the grade. Sorry guys. On the upside....lots of unusual cocktails you've never heard of, a great, vibrant atmosphere and lovely staff offering table service only. Worth a visit.

EDIT: Whilst it's nice the owner/manager takes time to answer the reviews, I think maybe he needs to accept that actually some of the drinks just don't work. The drinks we ordered were right up our street. It's kinda' hard to get that wrong when you're reading it from the menu! They were just more show than...
