Have you ever walked past a food place and thought, “hmm..that doesn’t look so good, old wooden chairs, i need something that ‘looks more like me’…I won’t eat there…blah blah” ?? Well let’s break the ice of judgement here. The first time I came to Kabul’s ill admit, i didn’t have high hopes which is probably the downfall of society in some ways - because we seem to believe that these Gordan Ramsey-esque dining Michelin star restaurants where you pay ££££ for a tiny starter and a glass of water is somehow automatically better than anything. I’ll also admit that it’s true, a lot of fine dining etc have amazing quality ingredients and creativity. But for me and for 9/10 of the population we want to feel good. We want to have a good time, pay a reasonable price and taste honest hearty food. This place blew my eyes out of its sockets when I tasted their food. I’ve eaten much around the world, Asian, Middle Eastern, Mediterranean, western, Italian, French, Spanish but some places focus too hard on their presentation and how ‘things look’. This place is no bullshit. Great quality, hearty food, to the point. We ate two plates of rice, salad, and two HUGE lamb shanks between two people for …drum roll….£24. This place is without trying to deceive you, without trying to manipulate you. It’s honest people with delicious well made food. That’s it. What more do you want. My advice? Go. Thank you to the staff and the owner for beginning to build...
Read moreThis is my favourite place in Bristol for so many different reasons! I discovered this place as soon as it opened and have been waiting for them to be listed on Google just to leave them this 5 star review. The food here is incredible, the value is amazing and it’s always delicious, everything on the menu is worth trying but I especially love the Aloo Keema curry and the slow cooked lamb shank is to die for (and it’s only £12 for the whole shank with rice, naan and salad). The people in here are so super friendly and welcoming to everybody, and they have inspired me to start making this Afghani food at home. If you are thinking about going here - do it! You will not regret it and your eyes will be opened to a new cuisine. Love love love thank you guys so much...
