Would avoid for Sunday roasts if you want a decent experience.
We had a 7 person booking for a birthday, booked a week in advance. On arrival we were told that there was in fact no table reserved for us and we should just grab one when there was one available, however the pub was very busy with only a couple of 2 person tables available. Luckily some other customers were lovely enough to move off their table to let us sit as a group, staff didn't help with this.
Then we were told that there was no beef or chicken breast left. Most of us chose the lamb, however after ordering we were then informed that actually there wasn't any lamb left either. Staff were apologetic however this was a pretty poor show.
So the only options were the vegan / veggie dishes. We ordered these and they were thankfully pretty tasty, especially recommend the vegan pork. However, the portion size was also rather small (presumably because the kitchen had run out of most food in general). We couldn't quite get out head around how they could have advance bookings yet not plan to actually feed the customers.
Might be fine to spontaneously eat here, might get lucky, but I wouldn't recommend booking / putting your faith in them catering to any event successfully.
Edit: have emailed and they haven't responded, they...
Read moreI used to be a regular customer at your establishment, primarily because the food quality was excellent. However, my recent experience suggests that the quality has significantly declined. Despite waiting for over an hour and a half for our food, we were extremely disappointed with our meals.
I ordered fish and chips, and my friend opted for sausage and mash—two dishes that I would have never thought could be poorly executed. To my dismay, the fish and chips were the worst I've ever had. Contrary to the menu description of "chunky chips," what we received were essentially uncooked potato wedges. Additionally, the fish lacked crunch and was oddly over-seasoned with pepper. As for the sausage and mash, the situation was equally disheartening; the sausages were undercooked, and the mash was both watery, undercooked and incredibly over seasoned with pepper.
Furthermore, the service was far from satisfactory. Our table was not cleared for three hours after we finished eating. When I voiced my complaints to the waitress, she seemed unwilling to take our half-eaten food back to the kitchen or even remove it from our table.
I hope you take this feedback seriously, as the level of food quality and service have taken a considerable dip from what I had come to expect from...
Read moreI used to love the Cadbury, but I feel that it's going downhill a bit with new management. While the beer is better since it changed hands, the dub & hip hop on the playlist seem to have been replaced by depressing indy music and they've got rid of all the graffiti on the walls (and the still cider). They also came out to tell people off for playing their own tunes in the beer garden on a sunny weekday (there was only me and another group in the garden, and I don't think any of us minded) and to tell them off for smoking weed (which they weren't doing). No disrespect to the new manager - he is friendly enough, polite and probably runs a tighter ship - it's just going a bit straight. I can see what they're trying to do and may gain some new customers in the process, but I think many of us are going to miss the old Cadbury and may turn elsewhere. I've started spending my hard-earned at the Surrey Vaults (a small pub in St Pauls with live music, punk clientele and a DIY vibe) or the Prince of Wales up the road instead. Summer 2018 will be the test - if the Cadbury and its new manager get the dub pumping outside, the BBQ fired up and the street artists graffing the walls...
