I'm sad to post a bit of a negative review because I've had a lovely time at this restaurant in the past, but unfortunately the service yesterday was not very pleasant. We were admittedly 10 minutes late for our reservation, which had a 1.5hr time limit on. However, this must surely happen all the time in a restaurant and we were made to feel uncomfortable and rushed from the moment we ordered drinks. First the waitress was making sarcastic comments, then accused us of being half an hour late which was just not true. Then the manager came out to 'apologise' for rushing us, whilst giving many underhanded comments about how it was really our fault for being 10 minutes late. I understand their frustration as they need to make enough money to justify opening, and they were concerned about their next booking, but I believe that when you have a table who are spending £100+ then you should at least be polite when explaining why things might need to be a little bit quicker. It was more about the staff's attitude than the situation. We were essentially thrown out when there were 3 empty tables! I'd gotten there as soon as I could, still in my walking clothes as I'd unfortunately had to stay 40 minutes late at the hospital where I work. So to have a really stressful afternoon turn into a stressful evening was just not what I was expecting at prego. I'm giving them 3*s because I've had a nice time there before, one of the waitresses was lovely and because I cant fault the food. The pizzas were delicious! I'm hoping the bad attitudes were purely down to the stress of keeping a small business afloat at this uncertain time. For Prego, I think you should add a note to the booking process that encourages people to arrive earlier than the specified time, and also consider coming up with a contingency plan for parties who are late, as I suspect that this will continue to be a problem for you and rushing your customers in a rude manner probably isn't the...
Read moreWe won't be going again or recommending it to friends... Why did we dislike it? Because despite having had several very good experiences there, the ultimate experience was far from satisfactory! The reason being, we took our 4 year old and although on previous occasions the staff were very good with her, the staff on this occasion (who appeared to be altogether different) showed total indifference bordering on ignoring her couple of innocent questions during the night (two or three at most)! But that's not the worst of it. After eating what was I have to admit, a reasonable meal (not quite the usual quality, but reasonable) We asked for our bill and promptly paid in cash, leaving a tip (wish we hadn't bothered) and got up to leave... The waitress rushed over with a credit card machine and upon realising we'd left cash couldn't make up her mind to open the door or check whether we'd paid the correct amount. In her half hearted and panicked state she jammed the door on my 4 year old's toe causing her to yelp and cry... I was still saying my goodbyes inside the restaurant and wasn't aware of the event until I'd exited, still being slightly bothered by the clear lack of trust the waitress had shown. I'd heard the door bump but not realised why, until it was explained to me by my partner who was outside nursing my daughters foot!
When later confronted about this, not even realising she'd hurt her, she gave a - not at all convincing - apology and didn't even bother to check or apologise in person to my daughter... Shame as we were previously regular and happy patrons of this restaurant There was a bruise on my daughters foot... evidence of what had...
Read moreLuke warm food and disappointing ....
I have dined here on many occasions in recent years and have always came away feeling happy and reassured with the experience, but todays lunchtime dining experience fell well short.
Our main course which was meat balls were served a luke warm at best , the clue was the unmelted parmasen cheese !.....having eaten a few mouthfuls, the food was clearly not hot. I bought this to the attention of the waitress who offered to rectify this and also offered a complimentary dessert, all well and good ?.....absolutely not, I’m not interested in a free anything , I have limited time to dine out and want a professional service when I do.
Hot food served luke warm is unacceptable in any professional kitchen.
I’m no masterchef wannabe , but even I know that Pasta is best served on a hot plate, sadly ours was not.
The chefs here are supposed to be professionals who rely on getting it right to make their living , not relying on offers ofcomplimentary desserts to patch up basic errors.
We didn’t take them up on their offer , we paid in full and left , the restaurant business is competitive , I won’t be rushing back in a hurry, time to look elsewhere and give my business to a restaurant who is prepared to work hard to get it right and who is not relying on any past...
