Iâll start with a positive - the curry goat was good. Everything goes downhill from here though. Very strange, unwelcoming layout. I came for a takeaway for 4 and had to wait in a small, cramped area cordoned off from the dining area but thatâs ok. We were told we had a wait of 20 minutes as they were busy and asked if weâd like the food to be hot. (Are there any takeaway restaurants that serve food cold?) We asked for it to be hot. Two of our menu choices had to be substituted as theyâd run out. (At 7pm? Really?) A few other customers also had to have substitutions. After waiting longer than 20 minutes we received our order and when we took it out to eat it, it was stone cold, even though the server wrote the request for it to be hot in bold, capital letters on our order! I cannot fathom why it would take nearly half an hour to serve cold food at a takeaway as it clearly wasnât freshly prepared. At ÂŁ8 per portion (large), it was very disappointing. We only went as Bikkle in Easton was closed for refurbishment but was happy to try somewhere new. Will certainly not be returning. Poor service, under par food and expensive for what it is. I...
Read moreNever been disappointed by a meal here, i usually take away (get there as early as you can to avoid the queue and if you're in a rush opt to take your food cold and warm it at home, it will get to you much faster!) Everything i've had has been packed with flavour, generously portioned and just delicious. Curry goat, oxtail and brown stew chicken are all richly seasoned and saucy full of perfectly tender chunks of meat. I recommend requesting an extra pot of gravy, you'll want it for your rice and pea. Fried chicken is crispy and well seasoned, ackee and saltfish is melt in the mouth with well balanced saltiness, always just right. Last recommendation- hit up Jamaica night at the end of the month for powerful cocktails, reggae and the best all you can eat buffet of your life. I'm greedy as hell but even after an 11 hour shift i could only get through one piled up plate featuring my favourites and some awesome new menu additions. At 12 pounds i felt i was robbing the place and wished i had more change to tip! Best takeaway in the area and no nonsense real...
Read moreBeen driving past this place for on a weekend for ages and the BBQ smell has always made me hungry!
Finally got a chance to stop by on Saturday and there was no disappointment.
The lady that served me was lovely. I was potentially going to over order, and she pointed out that most of what I wanted was available in one dish.
Once the food way ready we took it home. It was well wrapped as to avoid spillages. Greatly appreciated!
The food itself was still hot when we got home and the flavours were amazing! We had the jerk chicken and the fried chicken. Both were extremely tasty with lots of flavour! The chicken was cooked really well, crispy on the outside but not dry on the inside. I donât know much about Jamaican flavours⌠but the flavours were really tasty. Even the rice and veg were full of flavour (probably soaked in from the chicken đ).
The price was very reasonable. We both got a full meal that would have sorted us for dinner, for ÂŁ9 each. This was lunch though, so we ended up keeping some for dinner.
Weâll definitely...
