A nice cafe with a very subpar service. They require the orders to be prepaid (fair enough), which seems to encourage the nonchalant way the servers behave over there. First, it took almost 10 minutes for them to get my order taken (on an empty Easter Sunday). Once I finish it, I decide to ask for a cake so I read the menu and wait… And wait and wait. Two servers kept going back and forth taking other orders, they literally served the table in front of mine and kept acting as if I were invisible. Never in my life I had to think it might have had something to do with skin colour, but I saw the same thing happen on a table with other POC (I am one as well and was on my own). Whoever seemed to be Caucasian or Hipster Bristolian got full on attention and smiles - myself, and the family on the other table outside, had to literally proceed to the counter on different occasions to request some attention and service. Again, the place was very much empty as it was an Easter Sunday afternoon so no excuses at all for the ridiculous, and possibly racist, treatment. Needless to say I will not return and beware if you do not fit in with the community of white locals. P.S.: Pics attached depict the moment I was seated and waiting to get my orders taken, almost reaching 10 mins of wait. Servers kept seated and chatting between themselves on that table all the time, knowing I was waiting for some time already and fully ready to request my order. If you wish to feel like an Invisible Man / Woman, that’s the perfect place for you.

We had a very good friend visiting us from Australia, who was leaving today so we wanted to enjoy a meal together before we took her to the airport. First place we thought of for great food was The Bristolian. We got there around 8.30am and were seated straight away. We chose the outside covered area this morning. A few months ago a fire damaged the cafe but since reopening a few weeks later it never damaged the soul of this place. The atmosphere is brilliant and that matches the food. I complicate an eggs Benedict order as I have to have my eggs poached until there is absolutely no life left in the eggs at all. This request thou I think is simple does perplex many and very rarely do they come out killed. But today they got it exactly right. British bacon is exceptional. Aussie bacon hasn't got a thing on the uk version. I have to give it too the Brits as it is about the only thing they seem to be doing better then the convict country of my home. Aussie sure know how to make a coffee that's for sure. Thanks Bristolian for making our time with our dear friend so memorable.

We had a delectable full English breakfast with one extra portion of hash browns so that we could have one each. The bacon was so flavourful in addition to the sun blushed tomatoes and spinach which were a great extra touch. The assam breakfast tea and black coffee were delicious also. The outdoor seating is very pleasant and the indoor decor is lovely. Plenty of pretty ceramic tiles. The bathroom sink is fun! One peculiarity, to save time as it is a very popular venue, you are charged immediately after making your order to which service charges are automatically added. We noticed this on the receipt provided by the staff after payment. The lack of transparency about this was annoying to me as I had not yet received any services from staff. Perhaps I didn’t notice it on the menu but it would have been appreciated to be informed first, or at least be provided a receipt before paying.

This establishment is simply a genuine jewel for foodies in Bristol's array of dining options..

It's slightly away from the city centre itself,in the stokescroft area, but however you decide to visit and dine here, especially for breakfast, you will 99% not dissapointed.. Why 99%?

Good question.. Well firstly you can't book a table here, and when you arrive at the Bristolian , the que waiting to enter says all you need to know as to why this business is a popular place to meet/ greet and dine that it hasn't the need for bookings.. So be prepared for probably 10mins or so to be able to go in..( that's the 1% dissapointment if you see what I mean.) Nothing terrible too wait is it.. Staff do come out to check on numbers in each group?, and they even brought out a menu leaflet so you can have a look at what culinary delights they offer you here, prior to you going in..

Not suggesting they don't do bookings because of big headedness on the owners part, no, they're just very very busy with customers to deal with Internet or phone enquiries aswell...

Inside you will find staff that are professional, polite and fun people..

Seating arrangements are varied, the decor is colourful and the foods are cooked too order..

Now, considering the place was busy, we still recieved our orders in around 20mins from time of ordering...

And the food was delicious, and hot too the table..

The Bristolian is a place we will definitely return to for Breakfast when we next visit Bristol...

As I say..a Jewel"...

I had a breezy brunch on beautiful, bubbly day. The sun was shining so sweetly and the wind was wonderfully wafting through my hair. The lovely waitress walked through the door calling my name, ‘Mike!’, she said. I responded ever so quickly with a perk in step. An oat latte was delivered before me with a friendly smile. It had a delightful warmth which soothed my soul and set the tone for the rest of the experience. Some minutes passed whilst I enjoyed my coffee. Again, the door opened and I heard the call of Mike, I turned to see a waitress with a tray of two hot chocolates. A moment of confusion hit me - my name is Mike, but these were not my hot chocolates. We quickly realised there was another Mike. Some more minutes passed and once again, I heard a familiar call, ‘Mike!’. ‘That’s me!’, I replied. To my delight, a vegan breakfast. I tucked in. An explosion of flavour filled my mouth, tingling the sensations of my tastebuds. Everything was cooked so well and so flavoursome. But most of all, the mushrooms were incredible. I am the type usually who eats mushrooms just to eat them rather than for pleasure. Unless of course they are magical. These mushrooms delivered to me were certainly magical. Something about them was so brilliant, so much flavour and passion. Thank you for the mushrooms. I will never...
