Read moreJust arrived in Bristol to visit our son after 300 mile journey from North Yorkshire. Breakfast at Riverside Garden Centre. The setting was delightful and the scrambled eggs faultless but sadly an unfortunate welcome to Bristol! My husband had asked for some Marmite which was brought by the waitress in a small prepackaged container. All well until we were approached, ( while eating) and without any explanation or apology, by presumably the manageress and most impolitely told that in future we would be charged for the Marmite. If you've got a pond or shaded garden this is also the place for you. Loads of seed selection, tools and accessories including quite a decent range of indoor plants, again, in starter sizes so your green fingers are less likely to accidentally spend all the rent money. Dogs and children are more than welcome and there's plenty of room for them too, including a little play area for the kids. Staff are helpful and knowledgeable, or they can quickly find someone with the knowledge. All the plants are clearly labelled with if you're browsing or a novice and not sure what you're looking for. But they're also alphabetised which is so helpful when you just need to locate and go. Cafe is vegetarian which is cool, and the coffee is tasty, would be nice to have one or two savoury food options that weren't full blown meals? Come for the plants, come for the coffee, come to learn something, this...
