Samroy's Fish Bar — Restaurant in Bristol

Appalling experience. Food was very late, so called the restaurant. LIED to, told the food had been delivered. Then told it MIGHT be stuck in traffic (so which one is it?!). Then snapped at and told we would never be delivered to again as we are "too far" away (2 miles in a straight line, hardly back-breaking, and why accept the order in the first place if it's too far?!). Further delays, so called the restaurant again. Exceptionally rude person, who again lied and said food had been delivered, then told me he'd call the driver before hanging up on me. Food arrived a further 15 minutes later, cold and soggy. The driver had driven in through the gates to our complex behind another car, and then consequently couldn't get back out again (as a fob is needed). Called me back again, demanding to be let out. Do NOT order from this place. Shoddy, unprofessional, and almost laughable treatment (had we not paid over 20£). They used to be excellent, so not sure whether new (and very inexperienced/unfit) management. Couldn't give 0 stars...

Stayed in Bristol overnight and as hotel Kitchen was closed decided to order a takeaway. Unfortunately I chose Samroys Fish Bar. I didn't want anything fancy just a burger, chips and drink...I added an additional drink and onion rings to take my total order over the minimum spend amount. Delivery driver calls me from outside hotel for me to come and get my food. I had instructed hotel reception that I had a delivery arranged and for them to inform me when it had been delivered. Delivery means delivery!! Ie it should have been delivered correctly!! The burger which was lazily stuffed into a takeaway box and wrapped has to be one of the worst things I have been expected to eat. Chips cold. The onion rings were the only totally edible item hence a score of 1 otherwise it would of been a 0!! Overall - Shocking!! And a complete waste of my money especially as there were so many other takeaways that I could of chosen. I wouldn't want anyone that doesn't know the area to make the...

Avoid at all costs. Ordered a takeaway Sunday night. Email confirmation says delivery for 20:08. 20:30 comes and goes and so I ring to chase, am told driver has already left and is 2 mins away (we live approx 5min drive from the place). Ring again at 20:45, to be told the same. I challenged the man on the phone that we'd already been told this and were still waiting. He was very rude and hung up on me mid-sentence. Delivery arrives 20:55, missing the drink I had ordered. Ring back, same man rude and offers to send another driver with the drink. I say I'd rather have a refund, he apologises, agrees and offers to also refund deliver... result! Or so I think. Same driver comes back to deliver refund in cash in person, only refunds the drink. We explain to him we were getting refund for delivery too, he has conversation on the phone, and tells us to ring back. Told he never offered to refund delivery. Whole thing a silly nightmare, avoid unless you enjoy being treated...
